  1. Does anyone have any advice in learning to trust your reads more online?

Playing live I have found I have no problem trusting my read on a players position and holdings, and acting accordingly, despite what I hold.

I have found this to be my biggest problem, and why my results are much different live to online. For some reason, I cannot follow thru on my reads while online, especially getting later into tournements. I would have expected this would be reversed, and be harder to follow thru live than online, but for me, not so.

With all the small nuances that playing online adds...chip count displays, betsize/stacksize, speed of a click etc etc...

I know, Just click the damn button when you know what you know, right? is it that simple what I'm missing?
  2. Well basically always go with your guy instinct. I say that but here lately I have made the right read, made a better play and gotten sucked out on big time. In the 5R I was deep and sitting about 12th in chips. Had pocket 10's in the BB. The guy on the button was a shortstack and had went allin the last 5 orbits. He just doubled thru and was sitting about 80k less in chips then me. When it folded around to him I just knew he would steal. He made his 3x the BB raise and I paused a second then re-raised to about 1.5 x the pot. Of course this looks like a weak re-raise/steal move so I figured I could sucker him to go all in. He did and his A9 offsuit hit trip aces.

Yesterday in a $50 nlhe tourney on stars I was sitting about 5th in chips with 15 left. The guy in the SB was like second in chips. He had been bullying the table pretty hard. I picked up 88 on the button. Made a standard raise. He inst-went all in. Which was his normal move. I put him on garbage and after thinking about it. I called. He turned over 97 of spades and I was like YESSSSS... Of course the damn 9 hit on the flop I was out in 15th place. Still got $300 but I should FT that damn tourney.
  3. cant think results kajun but i think its good you are willing to gamble at times like these... gotta play to win. As for trusting your reads, its not as easy online because the littlest of things can make you change your mind. Say a guy waits and calls, he could just be petting his dog or something and he really has aces. I find its very easy to talk yourself in and out of a call so just my best advice is play more of an abc approach for a while till you pick up on peoples styles then start to take notes and follow through.

  4. There is an article by Amir Vahedi over on the Allin Magazine site. It's called "A Matter of Trust"...he discusses acting on your reads in it...
