When he donks the flop, my guess his range is made up of 5s, FDs, SDs, 6s, and some overpairs, which makes it an easy call on the flop. The K doesn't really change the hand, so based on our range I feel we should be calling again, and re-eval the river. It's hard to give him credit for many 5s as I don't expect him to raise many pre, and our hand is also under represented.

However, do we really want to be building such a big pot at this early stage of the tourney, and putting our self in a potentially awkward spot on the river? The pot will be nearly 1800 and we will have 2500 behind. Should we be just looking for better spots in the early stages?

    Thoughts on turn play...?

  2. 4 bet pre or raise flop to define where you are in the hand? sounds like either option is a much better one than call call. The way you played it you have no idea where you are in the hand

Clarify for me - are we cold 4betting for value pre? Are worse hands calling? Again, on the flop are we raising for value and if so what are we doing if we get raised? I hear time and again that there are only two types of bets in poker, bets to get stronger hands to fold (bluffs), and bets to get weaker hands to call (value bets), and that bets for information (or to define where we are in a hand) are themselves ill-defined...

  4. with the preflop action, your tens now are as strong as 22 and you are set mining. You have to let it go on flop.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. I let it go on the turn. Would you have played it differently pre?

  6. TT doesn't have such great equity against a 3bet from a random in the early stages of a tournament with no reads.
That being said you should call the turn. Just because a king hits the turn it doesn't mean it's suddenly a part of his range. It might be a good spot to jam over the top. You can get JJ and QQ to fold in this spot.
  7. Early stages of the tournament in this spot I probably just call on the flop to see what he does on the turn. When he bets the second street I think it is an easy fold due to the fact that it is early in the tournament and we really don't have any prior reads on the villain. You can def find a better spot as the tournament moves on to be put in a better spot without losing a big chunk of your chips early.
