Starting today I am going to try to be nice when donks suck out on me.
Gone will be the: "what did you have on the flop?", "nice 4 outer", "wow", "sickening"
In it's place will be "nice catch" "good call" "did you have a feeling?"
How long this will last, I don't know. Wish me luck, because I know this might be the toughest thing I have ever done in poker. -
"Did you have a feeling?" is classic. I'm starting to use that one more, along with "don't know how you made that call, but nice job".
I think that biting my tongue in situations like that is helping to keep me on a more even keel, so I've made that my New Year's resolution. Considering that last week was the best week financially I've ever had playing poker even with an extreme inability to make a 2-to-1 favorite hold up on the bubble of SNGs (AK losing to J9, KK losing to AT), so far, so good. -
I'm getting better too. Today I lost w/ 55 to T8 w/ the board showing 5-T-T-K (the case T hit on the river after all the money had gone in), after the worst day (monetraily and emotionally) of my poker life. My message to the guy: "Of course! You outplayed me. Do you give lessons or should I teach myself to suck at life?" This is a vast improvement over my usual: "I hope you swerve off a cliff tomorrow and only the car survives."

Good thing to do AceRunner. Remember that its the fish that pays almost ALL your winnings. If they don't get lucky a time or two, they'll stop playing. If its pointed out to them that they made a stupid call and sucked out, maybe they'll start to think (really bad idea for our pocketbooks). I always find it makes me feel better to just say nh when someone sucks out on me, AND remembering that eventually, I'll get that amount back and a LOT more. I think that we all hate the bad beats, but in the end, its all about making $$ and its the salmon at the table that make it possible.
Chin up in '06 (and your profits too!),

Treasure your enemies because it is through them you learn patience and tolerance.

I laughed out loud at the car one!! I just usually throw up "..." or "???" and just cuss the shit out of him out loud. One time [at band camp] i did that and the guy said, "sorry, I had a feeling"
