Well, personally I think UB has some other chat issues besides the observer chat to worry about... for starters, maybe they can actually suspend somone for cursing you out and calling you every 4-letter word in the book after they loose a hand. I've never been verbally assaulted as much as I do on UB.
As for the observer chat, there is one problem blocking - organizers of private tourneys have no way of making contact with others on the site who are signed up for their private tourneys -
Hey TT,
Thanks for posting about UB chat issues.
I totally agree with you that it's not a good idea for UB to remove the Obs chat in sng and ring games. It makes it very difficult for tourneys organizers to invite players to play.
A good example is sherrys funny farm on thursday, it makes it real hard for her to organize her tourneys.
I emailed UB to request them to restore the obs chat, maybe if enough people will complain to them, they mught restore it back.
I know that they have concerns in some solicitation issues, but they could easily block chat from those players if they get reported.
If UB will not restore it, then it is not a fun site to play anymore.
just my honest opinion.
gl and see you at the table. -
I've only seen people insulted when they make idiot calls.
If it happens to you often, perhaps you should listen, and fix the glaring hole in your game. -
Wow. That is definitely on the upward end of ridiculous posts.
-
Will UB ever listen to its customers?
-
no, but im having fun sitting out on three tables and creating a waiting list bwahahahahahaa
-
How do you figure?
He says it happens all the time.
If it happens THAT often, he's making idiot calls.
You don't get flamed for calling with the best of it. -
oh i've seen and been flamed for making the call the guy that just got put out did't like.......to say no one ever gets flamed unless they are making an idiot call, well, this site is not about flaming others so suffice it to say this post may just be one of the most idiot calls ever..........
However, your suggestion about reviewing one's own self and my own plays is a VERY GOOD AND VALID suggestion because that's the only hope i have of improving, i certainly can't change the way anyone else is going to play
EDIT: Just read the post by beanie and this kinda explains why one person thinks an idiot call and another thinks poker philosophy...........so to say the only people that get flamed at a table are people making idiot calls, maybe there is more than the naked eye can see -
sorcerer, do yourself a favor and read fox's new article. THATS YOU
-
I did read it. I also commented on what's wrong with it.
Flaming someone who calls an all in with A-rag when you have AA reenforces the belief that you only move all in with solid hands.
How is this wrong?
In a tournament, do you ever REALLY want to be called for all your chips when you could lose them?
People who routinely call all ins with ace rag have a gaping hole in their game.
They may play well otherwise, and may win. Needing to suck out to win a pot without getting odds comperable with the odds to win, is just stupid. -

What??? Of course you want to be called for all your chips sometimes, especially when you have a huge hand, like the pocket aces you just mentioned, or when you have the nuts on the river, for example, and in that case you can't lose your chips, but you won't be called if you're seen as someone who's incapable of bluffing. It's wrong to be seen as someone who only moves all-in with solid hands because it's wrong to be pinned down to any one way of playing. The pros always talk about how one of the most important things in poker is being unpredictable, and they mention that certain great players could be holding any two cards at any time and playing them like they're aces, and they mention Phil Ivey often, for one example. Also, I don't really see how flaming someone like that would reinforce the belief that you only move all-in with solid hands. Flaming the fish just shows that you're a moron whiner.

Hmm, you really don't seem to understand the point of Fox's article, I guess? Obviously people who call all-ins with bad aces have a gaping hole in their game and they're stupid -- that's why you're supposed to be HAPPY about that and never let them know that they're being stupid, because if you shame them into realizing that they're being stupid, they might just play smarter and won't be fishes anymore, won't be easy money anymore, which is bad for all the good players, as Fox said. -
No, you DON'T Want to be called in a tournament.
You don't MIND being called with the best of it, but it's always better to take it right then.
AsAd vs 8c7c. Would you bet your entire Fortune on it?
You wanna play it 10 times in a row?
Doubling the bet every hand?
Let me show you some numbers :
As Ad 1095197 79.90 259202 18.91 16355 1.19 0.803
Ac Kc 168651 12.30 1185748 86.50 16355 1.19 0.127
Js Ah 90551 6.61 1263848 92.20 16355 1.19 0.070
Actual elimination hand for me.
I'm a 4-1 favorite getting almost 3-1 with the small blind and antes.
This means 1 time in 5 I go broke.
If I pick up the pot right then I get breathing room.
Naturally, the board came 789T and idiot boy who reraised AKc's raise over MY raise sucked out.
You want them to fold.
If they NEVER call, you win every tournament.
You don't MIND them calling. Only calls you want are on the river, when you have the best hand. -
Sorcerer -- is this all a joke or are you actually this insanely stupid? Wow.
You said, "If they NEVER call, you win every tournament." What the heck? Two big problems with that: #1 -- They're GOING to definitely call you at some point and you're going to have to win an all-in showdown (usually at least six or seven of these to actually win a tournament), and if that's the case you want to do that when you have the best hand, instead of when you're forced to do it with an inferior hand later or when you're too low in chips for it to matter (by only playing premium hands). #2 -- Just to give a specific situation, let's say it's late in a tourney, 20 players left, blinds are 1,000-2,000 and you're in early position with 7,000 chips left when you pick up pocket aces. You're honestly telling me that when you go all-in you DON'T WANT TO BE CALLED??? If so, you're retarded. Also, that was a more specific situation where you'd really really want to be called, but almost always at any point in a tournament you should want to be called with pocket aces (although more than one caller can be bad obviously, but that's rare if you bet enough).
You said, "AsAd vs 8c7c. Would you bet your entire Fortune on it?

Doubling the bet every hand?"
WHOA, slow down, buddy -- where did all that madness come from??? Why would I possibly want to play it 10 times in a row doubling the bet every hand? To answer your first question, if my "entire fortune" means all of my chips in a tournament, the answer is obviously YES YES YES. Are you telling me you'd fold pre-flop if you knew your opponent had the monster 87 suited and you had pocket aces, because you don't like the fact that 1 in 5 times you'll go broke??? If you only "risk" it when you're more than an 80 PERCENT FAVORITE, like when you have the nuts on the river, it would be impossible for you to ever win a poker tournament and most likely you couldn't even cash in a tournament playing like that. Obviously.
Also, this was funny/insane -- "Naturally, the board came 789T and idiot boy who reraised AKc's raise over MY raise sucked out."
Jeez, you just love whining about bad beats, WOW. Are you two years old?
