  1. Hello all, This is the first time i have actually posted for advice. Please let me know one way or the other if i played this hand miscorrectly.

I will set up the circumstances. PS 2 dollar MTT 1204 entrants winner gets $$550 with 9th gettin 35. obviously im goin for the big money and not just waitn around to be blinded off. I had developed and Extremely tight image and was playin it to a tee. When i was showed down I always had the best hand and they respected every move i made. By the time we where at 4 tables left my statistics where lik 7out of 10 showndown and 28 won without showdown.
Got moved to an action table with a below average stack and was patient till i got a good hand or two and worked my way up to the stack i had here. at this point there are 20 players left and this donk to my right had been callin short stack all ins with K9, A rag ect. and twice he bluffed a dry side pot and the all in player survived(DAM I HATE THAT). he also had made plays at my blind the previous two times it folded to us.

now when he made the move i was sure he couldnt call all his chips with crap and if he did, well my money was in ahead. The Question i have is: Did I FUCK UP, if i think im ahead but not dominating is it the right move to go all in or just see a flop and let him suck out on me. I know i want the donks to make these kind of calls but late in a tourney should my strategy change slightly.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW GOOOD OR BAD

    thanks Bruce
  2. It's a tough situation but I would simply call the raise and see a flop. You are never going to be a big favorite with the hand you had and from your read on how he was playing you have to assume there is a good chance he will call when you move in. I would wait and push him when I have a bigger advantage because he is definitely looking to get rid of his chips and you have the best shot at getting them because of your position.

If you knew he ahd KT then your move is fine, but he may very well have an ace and if he does you're in real trouble. It's a situation of being slightly ahead or way behind and that's not where you want to be. You have to decide if there is enough chance that he will fold to make the move worthwhile.
  3. Damn you Fox beating me to the advice yet again. Two things I see here. First you said you had a great table image. Sorry to inform you but its a $2 tournament, a) players arent paying that close attention and b) even if they were its still $2 so they won't give people much credit anyways. Remember, table image only really works against opponents who are paying attention.

Second, everything Fox said is dead on. You knew he was going to call, cause thats what he has done in every sitaution before. With that said, what to push until you have a better sitaution than at best at 55-45 fav. Against this player you will find a better spot. Also, something to consider is if you do choose to call, you still have 12-13 big blinds left, more than enough time to wait out a better spot.

  4. TYVM Fox and bdluss for taking the time to answer this for me. I really did beleive that, at best, this guy had a marginal hand. I also did not believe he could make a call for all his chips with a marginal hand. Boy was I wrong. Picking a better spot definetly is what i should have done. Knowing your ahead is not enough i guess if its just 60/40 or 55/45. thanks again and i appreciatte any more advice you guys would like to give. P5ers OWN!!!!!!!!!

this goes out to : aw hell you know who you are, STAY OUT OF MY POTS!!!

  5. I see lots of posts saying I wasn't going for a 9th place finish, etc. Well the first step of hitting the big bucks is MAKING THE FINAL TABLE!! Making questionable plays with 3-4 tables left is a sure fire way to NOT make the big $$$. Good luck in future endeavors at the tables.
