" At the bottom of the list was Brian “sbrugby” Townsend with $261K+ loss."

Can he really absorb this kind of loss?

I'd probably lose a bit of sleep...
  2. That is nothing, this is from his blog

<TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=1 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=5></TD><TD vAlign=top>downswing I am currently on my largest downswing of my life. It very depressing and today the total hit 3 million dollars. It began the last two days of live play when I lost 1.8 million dollars and has continued online by losing another 1.2 million. I have been getting destroyed by pretty much everyone I play. I think overall I have played pretty well in this downswing besides one night where I was very tired. I have almost completely busted my FTP account and may have to wire more money which would be very depressing. If this happens I will probably take a few weeks off poker to cool off. This downswing is made easier by the fact that I had a big upswing before but still its not fun to lose 3 million dollars. Often when I am in a downswing I need to rework my game but I think I have been playing well. I know things will turn around as this has happened to me a million times before just not on the same scale.

As a side note I have been doing very well in the Omaha 8 games. When I first began playing them I thought I wouldn't have a lot of success but I have really hit the ground running. I hope that I am not just running hot and that this success continues. I do feel that I have a good idea of my equity in hands. I will have to see how I do in the next few months. But now I feel comfortable playing NLH, PLO, limit holdem, razz, and O8.

    this guy is balllllerrrr
  3. God bless anybody that can rebound emotionally from the kind of swings he's been experiencing lately. I know I wouldn't be able to handle it.
  4. As his blog says, when you're losing it's a double or more whammy. Other players see you losing and capitalize as well as your head not being screwed on right.

If I can see I'm in a good state of mind and lost a buyin or two I'll stay. If I'm being honest with myself and really not in the right state of mind to win. I'll leave right away and come back another day.

The easy one is when you're winning. STAY and PLAY. for 2 or 20 hours until you start to bleed, then pack it up or log off.

Some people say they just need a break. I used to think I needed a week to turn myself around if I was down.

Good thing I had only a half dozen losing sessions out of the last 30 or so.
    :-)

Really is tougher to come back than to stay on top.

A good player gets better when he turns around a losing streak.
  5. Well last week i lost 200 dollars on my FTP account and it's almost broke so i'm thinking i might need to wire some money into it aswell. Basically i'm in the same boat as sbrugby and i'm totally down on my game but i've been playing really well in the video and caribbean poker so i think i'll just stick to them till my cold streak ends, then again i just might perfect my game in them and go pro there instead, not as much competion. Sbrugby if you read this, don't be affraid to PM me, i'm here all the time and i'm ready to lend my 2 cents or just a shoulder to cry on. I know we're feeling same right now, and i think it would be benificial for us both to just share our feelings. Come here big guy and give me a hug!
  6. seriously though, how many could come back from such huge losses....geeezas 3 million lost over a few days...that is fuckin sick...i hope he's BR is at least 10 million..

fuck..if i had 10 million, there is no way in hell that i would be still playing poker of any kind...i'd be on a beach with a nice cold drink enjoying the fuckin weather and sunshine...with my BMW parked arund the corner and my house on a hill just a mile away....fuck me!
  7. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. If you keep reading it over and over by the 5th time you realize it's a Joke! Very well played warrant!
  9. These swings that Townsend are taking are massive. I have all the respect in the world for these HU specialists for the variance involved. I am not sure how they do it and this is why they are only a very small percentage of the poker community.
