1. My husband, Chp_N_Chr, also lost chat the 3 significant times I did on UltimateBet ( Nov 2004-7weeks; March 8th-11th; and March 13th to the present, at which time they also closed our accounts). He is a separate user on my computer. Although we are in the process of separation and divorce and to his credit, he has been very supportive of me concerning my/our issues with UB, and just as perplexed by their actions toward me, often e-mailing both UB and the Kahnawake Gaming Commision on my behalf. Btw, we both took our complaints about the loss of chat to that gaming commission in November 2004 -- an exercise in futility for us. Our opinion of their 'investigation' was, what investigation? lol. It is comprised of 3 members: Alan Goodleaf, Mike Delisle, Jr., and Iris Rice. I have no idea if Iris Rice is related to professional player Shawn Rice. There is a list on their site of the on-line poker sites that hold permits with them for those interested.

Each time my husband's chat was removed, UB eventually restored it, including this latest time, even re-instating his account, Chp_N_Chr! Their intial response to him when he asked for a reason for closing his accounts on March 13th (UB allows 3) was that his accounts were temporarily closed by their security system due to his association with another account (unknown?) in order to avoid collusion. Collusion??? Whatever, although nice to know UB's security system is alive and kickin' here. He responded asking UB to close his other two accounts and just re-instate his Chp_N_Chr account, as a means to AVOID the implication of collusion with HIS associated accounts. UB then re-instated that account, making several requests of him, including asking him not to allow anyone else to play under his account name. ROFLMAO.

I guess it's only okay for some of the professional players, used in UB advertising to entice members, to allow others to play under their screen names??? Ya gotta love UB ethics and double standards. Again, if any one is interested in my husband's correspondance with UB or Kahnawake, please feel free to e-mail me at TopazRose999@yahoo.com. I will ask him for permission to give it to you. To date my accounts (2) are still closed.

I've been invited to play at PokerHost, anyone have any comments about that site? Adam? So far, it seems cool...I definitely like their ethics as stated on their site.
  2. I understand your frustration with your chat being turned off because you obviously love to "chat", but why are you posting this in here? I mean, what exactly are you looking for from us? Are you looking for validation or are we just an outlet for you to vent? You obviously have issues with Ultimate Bet, but I fail to see the reasoning behind bringing them into a public forum. It seems that you have forgotten one of the very basic rules of gameplay; house rules. The house; Ultimate Bet in this case; makes the rules and have the authority to enforce them. They have every right to suspend your chat if they feel you are using it in an inappropriate manner. If you feel they are doing something illegal, you should follow the proper procedures. I do not believe posting in a public forum is the proper procedure. I hope everything works out for you.
  3. digitalmonkey, I do love to chat lol...I'm not looking for anything from you or 'us' as you phrased it as I have no clue who you/us is/are;oP. I certainly understand your failure to see the reasoning for my bringing this to a public forum if you think my posts are simply about my losing chat/accounts on UB. I agree any on-line site has the power to do as they wish without consequence -- this is an unregulated industry (150 million/day?). Thank you for taking time to respond.

  4. TopazRose, I don't know your situation, but I have also had a negative experience with UB support. I was very disturbed at the way they handled the situation. During the ordeal, I felt very helpless and was shocked at the way I was being treated. It felt like I was dealing with a bunch of fascists. It doesn't seem like they are accountable to anyone and can arbitrarily freeze accounts, close accounts and confiscate funds for whatever reason they feel like.

That being said, my problem was eventually resolved in a satisfactory manner, but I still have this awful taste in my mouth from the experience. I think they should be reasonably sure someone did something wrong before taking punitive actions, not the other way around.

They take freezing accounts way too lightly in my opinion.
  5. My account was "frozen" for almost a week late Feb. early march for "being associated w/ a troublesome account" turns out my roommate did a firepay deposit that was declared insufficient funds which led them to shut the account and all associated...funny thing is the next day Firepay contacted my buddy and informed him that was a mistake on their part...so since firepay screwed up UB felt they could freeze 4-5 peoples account for a week...very disturbing

  6. Topaz, My advice to you is to stay away from Pokerhost. Its a very nice interface. Very Very fast. However, I have heard that when you want to withdraw, you have to play a number of raked hands before doing so. Especially if its free money that the site is giving away. And even then, its still hard to get your money out. This is coming from a very good poker player who has her own weblog. Her name is MissT74. Do a search on her name. You can probably find her. Personally, I thought the site was too fast, if there ever was such a thing. I dont like to play slow, but that place is extremely fast. Just my 2 cents.
  7. Let me get my 2 cents in about support, but not UB, Paradise. They suspended my account because a buddy who transfered $$ had some issue totally unrelated to me in any way. Not sure how I got put on hold, but after 5 emails back and forth to get my name cleared, they reinstated my account but for some reason my computer was now blocked and I'm unable to play Paradise from home. Their advice after 20 emails of no significance or help was "go somewhere else if i want to play". Thanks Paradise.
  8. Tranquil, that is the kind of thing I'm talking about. I apparently had unwittingly 'dumped chips' with a guy who had scammed other players and they froze my account until they could determine that I wasn't in on the scam too. What made it worse is that a guy from their support kept sending me nasty emails and at one point said they were permanently closing my account which had quite a bit of money in it at the time.

Since, then I have withdrawn most of my money and don't keep more than a few thousand there at a time. I'm just appalled at the lack of accountability and their willingness to freeze and close accounts arbitrarily.
  9. I would like to thank all who have taken the time to respond to this post to date. I appreciate your experiences and feel it is an issue worthwhile discussing on this forum regarding all the on-line sites...not just UB.

In case some of you missed my first post about this subject, check it out..."UltimateBet Part 1 hmmmmm...." which can be found by clicking the 'number of posts' in my profile for those unfamilar with getting around this site. I will be posting an update soon re: UltimateBet, as that is the site which has chosen to take the action it has against my husband and me. I would encourage anyone who has had similar experiences with other sites to bring it to this discussion so that players may become aware of the ethics, or lack of them, re: this industry and therefore make the best choice as to where they want to put their $$$$.
