Golden Nugget has good $60 buy-in tourneys. Binion's across the street also has $60 mtt's with offsetting times in case you bust in one you can cross the street. Plaza has a good one at midnight, $50 I think.
Avoid Aladdin's at all costs. I watched a player bust out after the rebuy period was over and he came back to the table with $2k in chips because he "...gave the floor manager $10". As an added note stay away from Alddin's altogether as they let players in my 3/6 game play with open hands and/or show thier neighbors thier hole cards when they were all still in the hand. So in case you missed it...do not play at Aladdin. Nobody cares about running a clean poker game at Aladdin.
Bally's has good cash games but the locals come out at night, great during the day. I also had fun playing cash games at Excalibur.
There are free mag's and weekly papers in every poker room that have various mtt's listed. -
i am going to vegas for the first time in march. I am going with a bunch of friends. Just wanna know some ideas of hotels, casinos, and other places of interests. Not a high limit player or a shark. Just going for a good time and an empty wallet. Not unless I run across alot of the low limit bodog players lol. Any advice for a cheap trip to vegas would be nice. oh yeah anyone know of relatively low buy in tourneys around THE end of March?
-
What in the hell are you going to vegas for and who all is going ? I WANNA GO!!!!!!!!!!
-
Pickup a Cardplayer magazine. They list a schedule of all of the tournies in the casinos there. I'm going from 3/9-3/12 and called some casinos about some poker rates. Try that if you think you'll be playing at 1 casino. Good luck.

Dude I wish the wife would let me but I know better than to even ask on that one. Plus any extra money is going into our new house and buying me a laptop since K limits me using hers ... grrrr .. If you havent had the chance to you gotta use one to play just one session and you will be absolutly spoiled .. Matter of fact I'm laying in the bed playing and writing this now.. I LOVE WIRELESS :} Thanks for the invite though.. Are we gonna try and make the Southern Classic again this year though ? I will be trying to get her to at least let me go play 2 events this year if I can get someone to travel with me .

check out this site and read the trip reports...some good tourney tips,reports...the alladin is a ok tourney $40 but the sahara $60 is one of the better low limit ones no matter where you stay you can get to the sahara pretty easy on the monorail it takes you right to the casino floor

In regards to the Aladdin comment....
If you get busted out of a tournament with in the first 30 minutes of a freezeout, you may re-enter as an alternate, if there is space available. That player was probably making a joke that you didn't get.
The dealers do not allow players to show other players (still in the hand) their hole cards. Their hand becomes dead the moment they do. They are allowed to show another player (not in the hand) as long as the player not in the hand does not offer advice.
The Aladdin (changing to Planet Hollywood this year) is a good room, with good dealers, great management, and friendly player. I should know...I work there.
As far as the tournaments...
All low buy-in tournaments are tough, unless you are very LAG. You get around 1500-2000 chips and the blinds go op 15-20 minutes. It becomes an all-in fest pretty early. If you play tighter, check out the Wynn. They have a $230 and $530 tournament with 3000 starting chips and 45 minute blind levels.
Have fun out here. -
