Poker Verdict is expecting a big year for
vietcong01in 2008 and we wouldnt be at all surprised if he is next years answer to Annette_15 or Imper1um. -
vietcong01 plays extremely aggressively and some would say recklessly. He is never afraid to put his tournament life on the line and attracted several negative comments on internet forums about the quality of his game when he shoved with K-10 in the Super Tuesday. He got called by a player with A-K but went on to win the enormous pot when a 10 spiked on the turn.
It is moves like this that have helped vietcong01 take down the biggest available online tournaments this year
Since when is sucking out a move? And if it is I need to improve on this part of my game. -
cool site
Despite all his successes VanDuyn has yet to win any of the major online tournaments, his biggest online wins have all been seconds or thirds, a point that probably explains why he has not broken into the super elite group of online players such as Imper1um, Annette_15 or jcamby33. Regardless of this point it is obvious that VanDuyn is a player to watch for the future. After all, it could be that the monster 1st place is just around the corner. -
he plays more and gets luckier than the average player.... nothing impressive.

I'm getting a raging clue

I don't even consider him a real poker player, sorry if that offends anyone. But that b/s he pulls is ridic. gL all.

lol i think you along with all the haters are so stupid. I do not know vietcong or much about him but his results are sick. His style of play is diff and obv it has worked for him and he has been killing mtts. I find it interesting how a lot of the top pros even have the guts to say that he sucks when he has more profit than them playing the same tourneys they are playing.
Did anyone say anything when annete 4 bet bill ivey with 76 off suit vs iveys AK and spiking the 6 and raking in a 420k pot last week in the $162? I did not see anyone complain or say anything but if vietcong woulda done it he woulda been flammed. you guys are a joke, leave him alone for once and respect his results. -
Cool

Improved, if you don't see the difference between 4betting 76o with FE and what Vietcong does then you really are in no place to comment. There is a HUGE difference between overaggressive/reckless play and terrible flawed basic poker concept play. Vietcong is not bad because he is reckless he is bad because hes bad.
Today he had 70k in the 100r at 3k/6k and opened to 1800. Menlo 3bet him to 4200 (obviously with the intention of getting the 70k stack in) only for Vietcong to just call the extra 2400 then check-fold the flop leaving him like 25k left at 3k/6k. That is terrible play. 4betting 76o is extremely aggressive although a necessary and profitable play in some situations (don't know if the one you referred to was).
However if you can't identify the difference then you seriously shouldnt comment. -
^^So much logic, so little time.
Katoba. -
I'm pretty sure Vietcong only had around 30K when he opened (since puttin in 4800 p/f would leave him with around 25K), called menlo's reraise, and INSTA check folded to menlo c-bet.

....and what happened to not being results oriented? Sure Id love his results, but even those profits will go away when you put your money in bad. Guy has an insane 6 months and he is the next big thing.

i think sct meant to put an extra 0 on the end of those bets/raises.

Is an ROI of over 400% possible within the variance for a bad player?? Serious question.

Scott,
i know the diff and i have played a little bit with Vietcong not as much as u have. Yes I do agree he is wreckless but I dont know if having so much success makes him a horrible player. I think his style is wayy diff and he may be as fundamentally sound as other players. Lilholdem is similar too in some situations where he raises and he is soooo commited and folds to shoves when he is getting 4 to 1. I have seen it at a Ft with him and i was like WOW. He admits that he does not care about pot odds(when he prob should cause it would make me much better) but still nobody says anything about that. And of course i know annette had FE and cause she was raising the button, ivey could repop light since he knows annette range is huge when she has a huge stack late in a tourney thus she 4 bets thinking he cant call unless he has a monster. I do understand the play and i dont mind it so its ok all i am saying is that vietcong is obvvvvv doing something right to be killing some tourneys and winnnig the 100rs, 1k , warm up and million isnt enough to say he is good? or REALLY good? all of this and i do not know him at all or talk to him.
about your example, i do not get it? so he has 70k, calls 4200 and then he check/ folds flop meaning he would still have 65k or so? or he blew the 70k and was down to 30k and then open/called/ check fold? and yeah leaving himself 25k at 3-6 after calling pre would be HORRENDOUS.
