As the title indicates, I am in search of a poker mentor, and I am willing to offer compensation.

A little about my myself:
I have been a live player/pro since I was 19, specializing at the $1/$2NL - $5/$10NL tables. I have, as of resent, decided to focus on tournament play. This year I have had some success in tournament play, however my play has been scarce at best. My notable results include a chop at a re-buy event at the WPO in Tunica as well as a cash for 14th in another WPO event. I have also won about 8 casino tourneys with buy-ins of less than $100. I’ve dabbled into the online tournament seen a bit, and have had modest success and the low buy-ins (feel free to check my profile, I also, had a win in a $30 event on PStars in Feb for 2.5K, however, it doesn’t show up b/c the prize pool didn’t exceed 10K.)

In all, I feel I am an above average, winning tournament player, however I want to take my game to the next level and the level after that. In 2008, I plan on primarily playing tournaments, and my goals include being ranked on P5’s and cashing in a 5K live event. I feel with help of a more experienced, successful tournament player these goals are achievable. As for compensation, I am willing to give 15% of all my tournament winnings to a dedicated mentor. If you are interested in this proposition please send me a private message, email, or reply via this post.

I subscribe to multiple training sites, and they have helped my game substantially; however, I think 1-on-1, individual training would be the most advantegeous venue for the results I am trying to achieve.

If you have shown a profit for 2+ years at those stakes, you should stick with the cash tables. Far less glamourous, but easier schedule and more money most likely.
4 tabling 100nl 6max should get at least 40k hands per month ( probably more if you want )
I play about 40hours a month and range between 10k and 12k a month in hands played.
40k hands at 4 bb/100 = $6400 month
400nl= $12800 month
600nl = $19200 month
1000nl = $32000 month
Unless you know you will be in the 99.95 percentile of online tournament players...cash is the way to go!!
Add PLO to your cash game to mix things up....maybe play some live tourneys.
Good Luck! -
CP_MagiciaN, what would you suggest would be a better offer as for compensation? After discussion with others, and much thought, I came to decide on this amount; because of the amount of tournaments I will be playing, my results should be a direct reflection of the amount of time and efford the mentor spends assisting me, and thus should be apporipetaly reflected monetarily.

Even tho I have no doubt your intentions are good, it would take someone having never met you to trust you to follow through on your word. Also, 15% of what winnings? All of your tournament winnings, for the rest of time? It would be way too much of a hassle to keep track of everything doing a %, not to mention if you specify something like 15% of winnings for a period of 3 months and you happen to not win anything during those 3 months then the mentor has wasted their time . I would suggest coming up with an hourly rate or a lump sum paid up front so that money issues never get in the way of the actual mentoring.

About as far as I venture is 100nl...I wouldn't know about 1000nl bb/100 expectations.
Probably those that do maintain that win rate move up with time.
