Long story short I made a withdrawal via Premium Wire Transfer. It hit my BoA account $25 less than I requested. I assumed BoA charged me $25 for the transfer fee. I look today and see a $12 debit titled "Wire Transfer Fee." I contact the bank and they say the $12 is all they charged. So I contact FTP asking why my transfer was $25 short. This is the response I received:
Thank you for contacting Full Tilt Poker Support.
When you request a Premium Bank Wire withdrawal through the "Cashier" window, a message advises you that your bank may charge a fee for receiving the transaction.
Please note that Full Tilt Poker does not charge any fees for Premium Bank Wire withdrawals, and we cover all fees associated with sending the transaction from our bank.
However, Premium Bank Wire withdrawals are sometimes routed through intermediary banks before reaching your bank, and these intermediary banks may charge a processing fee.
Each bank assesses its own transaction fee. Unfortunately, we cannot control which banks process your transaction, and we're unable to compensate you for fees incurred by these intermediary banks or your bank.
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. We're always here to help.
Regards,
Isabel

So what if one of these "intermediary" companies decides to swipe $100 or more out our payout just cuz they can as a fee??
-
This is actually standard for any interntional wire transfer. Though they often are direct bank to bank, sometimes they get routed through third party banks, and you'll get hit with a fee. So the possibility of this situation exists for a wire coming from ANY of the poker sites.
Never heard of an intermediary bank swiping $100 though. Banks wouldn't use intermediary banks that were raping fees IMO -
lol, def a must read ty
-
This is very common for banks to do this. FTP has no control over it. Where I used to work we did a lot of transfers. International wires are the worst.
-
That's fine if it's standard for a lot of banks to do this but FTP needs to make a point to inform players of this prior to them making a withdrawal. I mean damn $25 and a $12 fee? The intermediary bank charged more than the receiving bank. SHADY
-
OMG A WHOLE $25
-
not that it should be, but this is pretty standard, your gripe is with the banking industry rather than the ftp I'd say.
-
Wow can u be any more of a jackass?
Probly not.
25 bux is still 25 bux, especially when ur transfer fee has already been taken out and you knew nothing prior as far as any other additional fees.
So if u request a 1K check from stars or ftp and they send you 975 then its all good? You wont say shit about ur missing money?? GTFO
I don't care if its $1, if my moneys short Im askin questions. Period. -
Standard or not. I've never done a bank wire to know if it's standard. So all I have to go off is the pop-up warning that FTP displays that thoroughly informs me of MY bank charging fees but NOTHING of some random unknown bank charging even more.

Had I known that I woulda just ordered a check. I pay enough rake as it is.
Im not in the business of passing out pieces of my hard earned money all over the place. -
Wire transfer or Echeck?? Didnt it use to be 10km min for wire transfers?? if so 25 aint shit and if its less why not just use echeck or paper check?? def not FTs fault
-

I used it cuz paper checks were bouncing, and cuz my echeck 2 months ago took a month to receive.
And this thread is titled WARNING for a reason. Im not bitchin as much as trying to give a warning to anybody that doesnt know about these additional fees as I did not and would have chosen another method if i had. So no other P5er needs to post "dude this is standard", if u already know then its not for you, keep it movin. -
There is a cost to convience.
-
that sucks im guessing you got burned for 10% of your 250 cashout. echecks and checks working smooth now, knock on wood
-
ya I had $41 and some change skimmed off my recent bank wire. i thought this was what my bank was charging me until the next day when a $10 wire transfer fee hit.
considering the amount of my wire and the recent troubles with cashing out this is a small price to pay for timely and guaranteed withdrawing.
don't rock the boat imo -
this is very true. I don't mind paying the fee if I get the money in 2 days compared to waiting for two weeks.
As far as telling him to stop posting, I would suggest that you take your own advice...and and also follow that acronym at the beginning of your name. -
For anyone saying it is only $25 you are missing the point.
First of all I did two cash outs over the last month and was pretty much forced by pokerstars to use the wire transfer both times. The first cash out I requested was right before the payment processor situation and I was given the run around for two weeks before finally finding out Stars never even sent my check out and if I needed the money now all they could offer was wire transfer. I had no choice as I needed the money for WSOP events so hello wire transfer and good bye $47! ($12 from my bank and $35 from god knows where)
Second request was for money for the main event which I won through a Stars satty. I go to cash out a few weeks ago so I will have the money in time as obviously Stars can not buy us in directly and all of a sudden the check feature has a max cash out of $1000! So what the fuck am i supposed to do since I need $10k to buy in? Obv hello another wire transfer and good bye another $47!
So now 2 transfers later and I am down almost $100 when I would have been more then happy receiving paper checks as that was always my means for cashing out post neteller/firepay/epassporte days.
I'm sorry but if Stars and FTP can not offer their players any other means for cashing out sums over $1000 then they need to eat the fees associated with wire transfers and not the players. Online poker is so much harder to make money then it was just a few years ago yet the sites are making record profits, the least they can do is pick up this cost. I mean come on $94 will almost cover the cost of the sweet 2:00am rub and tug after I bust out of the main event on Sunday. -
FWIW pokerstars DOES remind you of this extra fee when doing a wire transfer...I was kinda in the dark about it too, but this is just a minor downside to having $5,000 in your bank in 5-7 days instead of $1,000 incriments during a 5 week span. If you are trying to deposit significantly less, the check arrives in about 5 days and takes about 2 to clear if you do not have a wells fargo in your area...so basically you are saving yourself money in the future by taking the check if you are depositing a smaller amount. Once again, this is just for pokerstars in case you have any future wire transfers there. Pretty sure FTP is pretty close with the check/wire time as well from my experience.

I just used this feature and it hit my account the next day. The transfer was also 29 cents more than i requested. I run goot

get a check if your worried about the fees, its a minor cost and very convienent
