Dear Michele,
Thank you for contacting Pacific Poker.
Michele, I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing problems on
your system and that you had to change computers mid tournament.
The reason why you were placed 742nd is because you actively clicked on
the log out button. Please understand that in order for you to click on
log out you must first leave the table.
This in turn can only be confirmed after clicking on a pop-up stating
that you will be forfeited and requested that you confirm your request.
In the future should you experience problems were you have to log out
please exit Pacific Poker using this procedure.
Record the Tournament Number/ID then close the Pacific Poker Lobby by
using the Task Manager.
To access the Task Manager, hold down these three keys Ctrl, Alt &
Delete. Once these keys are held down the Task Manager should appear.
Select the Pacific Poker Lobby and hit the End Task button.
After the Lobby has been closed down, please log-in once more into your
Pacific Poker account where the system should take you the game
automatically. If you are not seated then please go to the appropriate
Tab and locate the Tournament using the ID that you recorded. Remember
to uncheck the box on the top left stating ?hid running and completed
tournaments?.
Enter the Tournament Lobby by Double clicking on the Tournament or
select the Enter Tournament Lobby button. Once inside this tournament
you should see a large button stating Seat Me, select this and it
should
seat you at your table.
I am sorry that I cannot provide you with a refund at this time. If you
require further assistance in this or any other matter, please feel
free
to contact us. We are here for you 24 hrs a day, everyday.
Kind regards,
Adam Sh.

Please pass this response along to management.
There arent any other sites that forfeit you because
of a disconnection. I never clicked anything
confirming forfeiting my chips, my computer was frozen
as I stated and I logged off my computer. If this
cannot be resolved I will be withdrawing the remainder
of my funds.
Thank You

what's the warning here? buy a better computer? I'm not sure what Pacific did wrong. They didn't become a profitable company by refunding everyone's buyin who said they had a computer malfunction. That's part of the risk of playing internet poker.
-
Steve you are totally incorrect.
Thanks for the warning/ I log off computers on other sites and they don't forfit me when I switch to my laptop. What a stupid function in Pacific's software. I would be soooo pissed. -
The warning here is that Pacific's software is comparable to that of a Turbo Graphics 16 system. This has happened to me also once playing a tournament. If Pacific had any clue how to keep customers they would refund her money and fix this bullshit software. Any other site you play on will keep you in the tournament if you disconnect or your computer malfunctions. Steve, if you are playing on the final table for a top prize of 50K and get disconnected, are you going to suck it up when you are eliminated in 9th because the power goes out?
-
Since a similar incident happened to me a year ago I have generated nearly 100k in rake for another site that I switched to. Pacific is obviously clueless about how to run a business. They didn't want my $100,000 bad enough to fix their software so that you could rejoin a tournament when you come back from switching computers or any other reason you might have to leave for 5 minutes.
Sorry you got screwed man, see you on BoDog or Empire maybe.
F Pacific. -
Emperor you are mostly right but your example is wrong. I agree it is a crappy rule but the only way you forfeit the tournament is if you click on the box to leave the table. In the event of power outtages, once you reboot you will still be in.
I agree though it is a strange system and I dont know why the have it, but thems the rules. -
Just as I stated to the Pacific Support, I didnt click any box... MY COMPUTER WAS FROZEN, I couldnt click a box if I tried. The box popped up when my computer was in shutdown mode and it was closing down all my currently running programs.
AG -
Wow, sounds like you got really unlucky then. I have done the ctrl-alt-delete thing and have been able to rejoin. If it is the case where any malfunction causes this then their site really does blow and im glad i don't play there often.
Sorry AG. -
-AG-, I would respond to his response saying that you didn't click on the box.
Pacific is not incompetent when it comes to retention. The other day when they ran their $200K Guaranteed the tournament froze up on the first hand. Five minutes later everyone received a refund plus their portion of the $50K overlay. The very next day we got an email saying there was a $50K Guaranteed Freeroll for anyone who played in that cancelled tournament.
Pacific seems to be a site that exists in a vacuum. They haven't learned some very simple things from other sites that will make their software better. The inability to multitable is another annoying example. I believe it's because 888.com is more focused on their casino, which is probably making a lot more money. This is definitely not a good "home" site for a serious player, but they do have great promos from time to time that many members of this site find attractive. -
Thanks for listening.. Im better now
AG -
cal,
about pacific being a horrible "home" site... i have to respectfully disagree...the software has its issues and yes you can only play one table at a time...but the fact that i have never seen such bad play as i do at this site makes it very easy to make money. i dont know of any other site where you can play a 30/60 lim game and get up 6k+ in an hour cuz the play is so atrocious :)

Pacific Poker's software was definitely engineered by a bunch of monkeys. Cant multi table, the chat and hot keys are annoying, they rake all in bets that are not called, etc.... Fortunately though even more monkeys play it! It is such a bankroll builder that its impossible not to recommend. Even with the atrocious software and slow tables. I cant wait to build my bankroll up enough so i can get to play at the higher tables.
