  1. alright so heres the scoop, im not new to the game at all. I dont play much cash games/casino im in the military and not that much time on my hands, i've been playing for a couple years on and off online..i have a very well understanding of the game and the ins and outs. i've had some expierence playing and read a couple books but i cant seem to figure out if they helped, no matter if i play a cash game or a tournament i just cant seem to make a decent worthwhile with either. not that i play shitty, cause i don't, but it just seems like i cant catch a f%#$ing break to make some income on this, either i get sucked out or i can't get the right read, am i doing something wrong? is there some tips for online cash/MTT'S that anyone can give that are halfway worthwhile listening too? Would much appreciate it.

  2. first let go the ego and remember this "You are only half as good as you think you are"

I am also a former Marine. I was also in 3MAW at Camp Pendleton
  3. Three things you can do that will help your play

    1. Play more, play a tonm of games. Afterward dissect them, learn from youe losses. is it always cos you got a bad beat? Overtime, the best players always make money. So be honest with yourself study some hand histories or whole tornuments you play in.

    2. Post some hand on here. It may be brutal and you may get torn up by some players tellign you where you went wrong. And it will hurt cos you think you can play, but seriously put your hand out there and let people see what your doing objectively. Its one of the best ways I have learnt when I am not sure about how I played a hand. I think you will be suprised at how you may have played some hands badly that you think you did ok on.

    3. Get some lessons, for SNG's/MTT's I suggest Jennifear (PM her on here). She is a seriously good teacher. I went from a break even player to a winning player turning $20 into $800 in 5 months playing low vloume low limit games mainly down to here fixing th eleaks on my game and intorducing some new concepts to me. Alternativley Cardrunners for Cash games or poker X factor for Torneys.

    Hope this helps and gl

  4. alright that's not an "ego" talking but thanks.....well i see what your saying buff but personally i think i have a hard time determining wether or not to keep playing/raise/reraise i won't play a hand if i know i cant do something worthwhile, i have something decent going, and for some reason i always think that they have something better so i fold, so should i just start playing more loose once i get to that situation? or what

  8. you can email whatever site you were on and ask for hand histories in any tournament/cash session and they'll send it to you in a text format

but i'd reccomend just playing... alot

I sucked for a long time, was lucky enough to catch a heater when i started, and never had to deposit again... but thats not the standard, you will be a bad poker player for a long time, then a break even player, then if you're lucky, a small winning player

its not an easy game to beat consistently for any reasonable amount of money

i'm sure there are alot of exceptions, but you really have to work at this to get better, I think i'm a good player, and I got here by playing, and more importantly, thinking about it, constantly

when i'm not playing, i'll find myself drifting off thinking about hands i played weeks before, what i coulda/shoulda done different, or i'll break down betting patterns of hands that didnt go to showdown and figure out what others had, after watching some online play before i go to bed

if you wanna just be a casual player and have fun gambling, just continue to play... you will eventually get better, but if you wanna do it for a living or something, you have to put soooooooooooooooooo much effort into it that you may as well just learn a trade like basket weaving or some shit and pwn that

cut this ramble off here with this, noone can give you a magic nugget of advice that will snap you into a good player... training sites do help though... I have alot to learn about this game still... but feel that if I woulda gotten a training site early on, i coulda saved months of spewing learning on my own

fuck i need sleep, sorry if you read all that, this site doesnt need 2 bfactors, crashes enough as is
  9. i guarantee if you are losing over a large enough sample size that it is because you are playing poorly, not because you just get unlucky or 'can't catch a break'.

post some hand histories or more specific questions about spots or way to play hands. your question is too broad for anyone to give you anything meaninful.

    good luck.
