I just remind myself that I got it in good/right. If they show up with a better hand...its a cooler....it happens!! If I played bad...then its my fault. How can I tilt then?!?! Ive put bad beats on others...they are going to put them on me. Poker is not a "fair" game, and I just try and keep this in mind at all times.

Tilting is my biggest problem -- HOW do you control tilt??
1. Probably because I ran superrrrrr hot at first, then normal!! Also, I wasnt sure about some of the plays I did and that bothered me. I picked up more mtts at the time and showed some success there so I guess I just went after that more. One day I will pick it back up again and try and master it!! 1. Whyd you get bored of nl cash games on tilt?
2. Are you planning to play wsop events?
3. Do you think a lot of people have what it takes to be a v successful ssnl msnl cash player and great tourney player OR do you think people should just focus on one game.
ty and gl
2. Yes, I am
3. I think many people can be great at both....but it would take a sick amount of work, skill, and balance. For me, working on one game type at a time would be key, I dont think I could focus on multiple ones well enough at the same time....other people might be wired different though and accel at learning them all together!
My B.S. and B.A. came from the "extra" classes in each. I took extra sciences/math for the BS and extra foreign languages for the BA....it didnt matter which major they got tacked onto because its rare that people do both a double major, a minor, and the extra classes in both areas. I could say BA in psych and BS in bio...but i prefer it the other way. If I had not taken more languages then it woulda been a BS in both? But I for sure list both BA and BS because I feel I earned it!! Im almost 100% sure I am not making an error using the BA for bio instead of the BS since if I had not taken the extra "science" classes and taken the languages the only thing I would have is the BA? Maybe where I finished up was different...but I doubt that since this seems pretty logical to me. With anything Ive done Ive always filled out my credentials that way and havent been corrected yet, or maybe they didnt care? I guess another reason why I mix/match the BS to psych and the BA to bio (cause usually you think people would normally do it the other way) is so that it DID stand out and that people did know I had two separate ones....I worked hard for them dangit!! Hope this make sense....but Im glad you said something cause I need to look into if me being told I could use whichever for whatever I wanted was incorrect. But I think if I hadnt taken the extra calc and physics I woulda had a BA from languages...no?Originally Posted by WillBG
I only have one question............... why do you have a B.Arts degree in Biology?
It is my understanding that all Biology degrees are B.Science classification. From my experience, every university in the United States classifies majors in Biology as a B.Science.
I have a BS in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Alabama so that is what caused me to wonder why yours is a BA. -
Gonna try too!! In flordia on vacation!!

I have answered everything completely honestly, and a number of people can attest to that. In no shape or form do I downplay the help I have received. I have turned down outright coaching from some of the best players in various games, something not a single other PERSON (male or female) would do. There are countless "top" players I am friends with that I have never talked a single hand of poker. I have stated the people that helped me in mtts, I never denied that a few have enabled me to improve my game immensely....but I would never call them "coaches". I also think that these people have helped others (guys) far more than they have ever aided me! I do not abuse being a girl...ever. I do not demand help or attention. Who is/are my "coaches"?!?!Originally Posted by nawDogNot4Real

2. Anyone that knows me at all can attest to that this did not happen. I have never once used being a girl for any self gain in poker. I have gotten far less help than any other poker player from their friends. This is an assumption I hate more than anything because I have worked my butt off in poker to get to the levels I play at. Unfortunately for me, I guess I am one of the few girls that got to where I am almost on her own. The money I have in poker came strictly from poker and from my own hard work, I did not use being a girl to get money or endless information/coaching from "top tier male players". Most of these players you are assuming took me under there wing would tell you that they never "talk" poker with me on any level outside of "How has poker been going?" (even people that have known me for years).

Reading this thread is getting very frustrating due to responses like this one. The way you downplay the amount of help you recieve is very sad. You sit on aim and skype all day with top mtter's and definitely don't just gossip about random things. In fact, all you talk about is poker. Any time you get into a tough spot you demand attention and ask how you should play the hand. In my opinion, the reason you have gotten to the level of play you are at now is because of the coaching you have recieved along with the volume you've put in. Along with this, I asked one of your coaches if they would have given you the time of day if you weren't a girl. The answer was probably not. The fact is that if someone approaches a top player on aim wanting poker advice they aren't gonna get it if they have a dick. I know I'm probably gonna get bashed for being a skeptic but with all the crazy shit that's happened with online poker I think people shouldn't be so trusting. My question is:
Of all the players that you talk to and recieve advice from, how many have you met in real life???
You create an account to say all these outrageous things?? There are only a few people that know what goes on in my poker and/or my life and you are for sure not one of them. For the most part I do not even use AIM when I am playing because of the amount of tables I have. I constantly have people in and out of my house or are on the phone....I have to have some sort of human interaction while I play or I cannot play...and the last thing that ever gets discussed is poker via any form of communication. I have not "approached" a single "top player" ever...asking for poker advice. Thinking back through the "top players" I know...almost every single one approached me. Its almost a joke thinking about this because I never know who anyone is. Before I became friends with Phil, I had zero idea who he was, Hastings had to tell me probably 5+ times over and over again who he was when I saw him playing him (along with other "top" people that "everyone knows"). I do not follow the poker scene, I have no idea who is good or bad unless I have played with them a ton. I still cannot tell you who the "top" mtters are, and even if I could I only "talk" to 2 of the 239329420394 of them.
The friends that "talk" to me know me well personally, so I can assure you not a single one has doubts about my gender, character, or intentions. I am selective on who I talk to and these people trust me for various reasons of their own. I have been playing mtts full time for 6 months....how many random mtt'ers should I have met by now?? Should I fly everywhere and met everyone that wants to see me?!?! I have 3 major obligations that tie me to where I am right now, those close to me know and understand this. On top of that, I am not the "type of girl" to just run around and met every creepo in poker because I need some kind of social reassurance. I have a very busy life, it always has been in one way or another....and if it wasnt busy time wise it was busy thing wise. I know I dont have to sit here and justify this to any random who cant even post this under their real name....but this post really took me aback. My "life" is my own, I have personal things that dictate what I do and when. Furthermore, almost anything else in my life supersedes taking a trip across country to meet some random internet poker player to "prove" I am a girl. Like I said before, those close to me understand my life, do you really think a number of the "top" "smart" poker players would remain good friends with me if they doubted me in any way?? or thought I was using them?? I mean word would have gotten around in those circles about me...no?? I will be playing live mtts as soon as things here let me, but I do not see how this will change anything for me....and I definitely wont go out of my way to meet people I dont consider friends at any point in time. Other cash game players have met me, partly because I have played that for so long, a number of them were friends with my ex....most dont go around gossiping about me because they respect my friendship, how I feel about it, and have better things to do with their time. -
I honestly have no idea. In limit holdem and mtts people have had %s of me at various times so there is no telling what I personally netted. Im sure it can be found for mtts, and as for LHE it was well more than enough! No, I do not exceed seven figures in poker, but I hope I do soon!! Sorry for the vagueness, I try not to focus on the money as long as I have enough!!

Jeez, this is another hard one. I kinda rotated between favorites to be honest. When I picked up something new it became my favorite for the time being. I am super tenacious and dont let up on anything until I feel I am at a top level with it, and even then I still feel like there is room for improvement. I also had a few different horses I used for different events, so sometimes the horse created the favoritism. I loved dressage because it just looks so beautiful and takes a TON of work, both by horse and rider. Jumping is always fun because the slightest mistake can cost the best pair a win. Cross country/steeplecashing/eventing is always great cause its an awesome mix of multiple forms.Originally Posted by slizza420

Out of all the events that you used to compete in which one was your favorite?
Endurance racing was amazing when I did it, I had a huge passion for this. I probably trained more for this than any other thing Ive done, both myself and my horse. There are medical check points, and most go for 25+ miles...carrying on for days at times. You do different terrains and there is a lot more skill involved than you would think. Most people do it with Arabians, but I took pride in doing it with my Walking Horse, something others competeting would be shocked about. It made the finish so much more satisfying, I was so proud of my Walker. She has a gear like mine...of putting your all into it...our "personalities" matched perfectly...although this made her hard to handle sometimes!! I loved the racing so much and adored using her that her baby is an AirWalker (Walker/Arabian mix). I miss doing it so much right now reflecting back on it...traveling with the horses places, camping out, packing light gear, strategically planning out the course pace, encountering new obstacles, figuring out the best way across/up/down things Ive never seen before, crossing your fingers that you pass medical check points, passing people on a horse few would even try to use, and the adrenaline rush of the last stretch of the course and cutting her loose. Man...was that fun.
The other events were always fun at shows as well, like Western, Halter, Saddle seat, etc. since they werent my "main" focus, but we somehow always managed to pull out some decent placings in them. Honestly, a few times I just got lucky that my horse was super smart beyond belief....cause I can remember in a Western Pleasure class once they called out something I couldnt hear for some reason and I can remember panicking for about 5 seconds until I realized my horse was already doing what the others were...you would not believe the shock/awe feeling I had. I still dont know if she just knew the "word" or she had seen the others doing it and followed suit!! So instances like those where one or the other (horse or rider) is picking up the slack for the other is a great feeling...especially between person and animal....it shows your work as a team has paid off and there is a definite bond (which I 100% believe the horse can feel).
People are always critical of horseback riding as a sport, but a lot more goes into it than one would think. Furthermore, it is not just all the "horse", it makes me so grrrr when people say that. Countless hours go in to training that horse, as well as yourself. Also, some people and a particular horse may not mix well....if you put another person on a certain horse it can perform like night and day....taking an argumentative/crazy/uncontrollable horse to a super disciplined/dedicated winning machine. I loved the challenge of this...altering my personality and mannerisms to the various temperaments of horses...I frequently rode or bought the "unrideable" horses. See...a super long answer and off on a tangent to a simple question!! Sorry...Ill stop myself here!! -
Mad respect for u Mer....I hate LOST but I keep watching it, I want that show too be over w/ cuz it suxed me in and now I cant get away.
1.What is it about lost that attracted too the show?
2.Which of the 5 leaders do you like the most Jack, Sayid, Sawyer, Kate or Locke? And why?

Hi peachy! not gonna lie i havent read this well yet, but awesome that you decided to do one, poker needs more girls like you and annette that are complete sickos.
I cant think of too many interesting poker related question so my questions are gonna be pretty random.
What was the first halloween costume you ever wore?
Who are your top 5 favorite people in the poker world?
Who runs better, Mig or daut? Who plays better? If it got to 3 handed in an MTT between you miglet and daut who would win and why? -
girls who play the pokers are hot.

1. Well I didnt start watching it until a few seasons in so I watched a lot of it in a short span....which probably got me into it faster since it was just like sooooo much info so fast. I love that the show can take any direction at any time and Im waiting for an ultimate explanation. Most shows would be lame after awhile doing this but LOST has stayed consistently good. When I had first heard about it I honestly laughed it off, like how can they make a show out of that concept??? Like castaway?? How boring and lame!! I was a bit off!!

3. Sawyer or Ben. I liked some others that are no longer on the show.
4. me??? 3 bet?? never!!! -
I definitely have wayyyyyyyyyyy less of an ego than male players. I dont feel like I have something to "prove" in poker. I dont have to play the highest games consistently, so I dont have a problem playing any limit, its not embarrassing for me. I for sure lack the "Play me heads up then sucka" thing hahah To me this proves nothing and I think its pointless. I dont tilt over what randoms say about my game, they can think what they want. 90% of people think Im bad so Im used to it after 4+ years. Even if I had an ego it would be impossible to defend myself in poker so I would probably go mental trying!!! I guess I also lack an ego because I really have no idea exactly how good I am in any given game type....so what do I have to be cocky about?

Do you think that being a female player gives you an edge in getting yourself a sponsorship deal? You're a great player who deserves everything you earn, and no offence to women meant, but some total idiots get contacts/deals with sites purely because of their anatomical gifts! What are your thoughts on this, and would you ever take a contract if you felt you were going to be marketed more for your looks than your ability as a player?
Cheers for doing this!
MATT.
Yes, it probably does give you a definite edge in getting a sponsorship. I mean I really dont have any thoughts on that, it is how the world works. Its marketing and what is most beneficial for them as a company, so I cant really argue it from that stance. I already know how "I" would be marketed, and that would be part of why they wanted me, if I decided to take a sponsorship I would understand that, but I hope I am also seen for the skill I do have in the game. -
1. Good question, unfortunately I have no idea what my first one was and my mom is no longer around for me to ask....which makes me sad. The first one I remember is a butterfly costume. My mom made it. She even created the wings out of thick industrial plastic and painted them (I actually still have them somewhere, they are so awesome). She always made my costumes, from halloween to christmas plays.

2. Im going to take favorite as in friend/personality wise and not poker-wise...and its gonna end up being more than 5 cause Ill feel bad!! Jim (Mig), Blake (Balla), Phil (OMGclayaiken), Cole (cts), D (Daut), Mike (Schneider), Tom (durrrr), Brian (Hastings), Josh (stheif), Fred (goblue), Jeff (kidwhowon), etc. Every single one of these people are awesome in every way. Each of them can make me laugh at any given time and thats super important to me. I also think all of them are extremely good "friends" in general. These people are rare in poker and it makes me appreciate everything about them endlessly. I just couldnt say enough nice things about any of them. They really have made poker enjoyable for me on an emotional level, and that is vital for me....without that I woulda stopped playing years ago!
3. haha well Im not totally positive but we definitely give Jim (Mig) more hell about running better so we will go with him!! I think each of them plays better than the other in certain games, Jim in mtts and D in cash. I have no idea who would win because so much plays a role, especially luck!! I have a pretty good understanding of both thier games, as they do of mine, so it would be an interesting 3 handed game for sure. Based purely on skill...both of them would cream me every single time...and if poker was "fair" it would go Jim (Mig), D (Daut), then me. I still feel like Im light years behind both of them in poker....so me winning would be fluke and oh so lucky!! Id feel like I won for myself though if I could out play one of them on just ONE hand....which wouldnt even happen

Mer this is an amazing well Thanx for handling yourself with such class. Love railing you on the tables and wish you nothing but the best in all your endeavours
Whats the best advice for a small steaks grinder who has limited ability to play due to work and social intereactions just to play cash???
Which sites do you prefer for instuction???? and playing ???
Do you feel all these douche's are just trying to get under your skin cause they have little to no interaction with women in general ?
Would you reccomend friends with nothing on their plate to take up poker or is it just too stressfull???
Thanx great well and have a wonderful spring day -
Hey Mer I live in Atlanta too (highlands) and was just wondering where (if ever) do you play live? I can't stand not having casinos near by. Do you ever shoot down to Biloxi or Tunica? What's your favorite restaurant in the city? (magic fingers & rathbun's = greatest)
-
Yes, if you have limited time Id definitely say play cash over mtts. I have a ton of free time and its still difficult for me to do mtts. Cash allows you to stop and start whenever.

I dont use instructional sites, although I do have close friends that run/own them. I guess try a few different ones and see which one suits you best....like what pros you understand/relate to the most. For playing...stars and Full Tilt. I dont play anywhere else really.
Im not sure, that could be the reason for some. Others just genuinely cant see past me being a girl and just view me as a player. It doesnt bother me really, after a few years you are used to it!!
No, I dont think I would, unless they had the money to comfortably start playing. If they have the money and time then sure, because in my opinion the stress can me minimilized....if not eliminated. -
Congrats on your success! I always wondered who the top person was on the Atlanta P5's leaderboard. Sorry about your Mom. It doesn't compare but my dog Rocco was just diagnosed with lymphoma last week and he is only 4 years old. It sucks. He has been taking prednisone and just started Chemo today. Anyway, GL in the future. If I had to ask a question...
Favorite restaurant in ATL? (CHOPS in Buckhead is mine but there are many I still have to go too!)
