I'd bet on myself against anyone in the top20. I think that most everyone in the top20 would honestly say that about themselves too. It's important to be really confident!

When Pete leaves USC. When he leaves USC will have a down era. Hopefully it will be an up era for USC basketball though!

From my limited experience with you, I think you need to work on your predictability vs good thinking players. From what I remember and I could be completely wrong it is very easy to assign very close in pots vs you.

Again I could be completely wrong but this weakness vs good players is your strength vs weak players. You make very few mistakes and capitalize on others errors.

1b. My story has a lot of similarities to yours, particularly leaving school to play full time and then burning out and leaving the game for an extended period of time. If I attempted a comeback, do you think I could make it again?

    2. You've avoided the answer for like 6 months now. But this is your well so you have to answer it now. What the hell did u have in that hand in FTOPS 100r?

    1. I always thought you were a more than capable professional poker player. You were (maybe still are) very close friends with one of the best players in the world, you learned from the best. I never talked with you that extensively but I always felt your poker mind was fine but your emotional mind was bleh kinda like me. Your best poker could make you a ton of money.

1a. You could come back with the right mindset absolutely. I however have no idea if you are ready for that.

    2. Pretty sure I had the stone nothings. It was a spot where I really wasn't sure if you were capable of 4betting air or only snaps. It was obviously a spot where you could profitably 4bet 100% of your range if I'm folding my stone nothings (and you know that). Rather than put in another raise, I felt that if I were to just call you would c/f 100% of your air and you would get it in with 100% of your nuts. I to this day hope you were capable of 4betting stone nothings. Thank god you had KK and the flop was Axx :)

  5. When you were really really grinding, how many hours a day were you puting in? 8-10? 10+ hours?

My goal is to put some insane hours in, and have the best financial year i've ever had.

I don't however think you should be playing the 100r 2x/day with a 10k br, for obvious reasons.

    - can you translate that for low stakes? like if I play $8 (top 5 get $26 tokens) sngs or $10 mtts is a shot at a $30/50/75 (50 to 180 person)mtt a bad idea? for a hobby player who plays for fun but with the idea of making monies also.

    #5. no im embarrassed :(

    - f it I'm still braggin...lol. ty for teh advice fwimfwiamfgf

I wouldn't recommend taking random shots in tournaments that are more difficult fields than your regular tournaments. I would however recommend playing that new $22 200k or whatever on sundays they put in on FTP, which almost certainly is a weaker field than your normal tournaments. I don't know if they have any lower stakes majors but Sundays are generally much softer fields across the board. Basically just be aware of the fields you are entering imo.

    4. Do you miss our talks on aim?

    5. If you were koolkeith13 what would you do to get better?

    6. When you said on stars the other night that you wanted a backer online was that a joke or not? How many people have approached you since you said that?

    7. I dont back anyone but I would like to formally offer you a 52%/48% deal in your favor with makeup.

To be honest, and this is going to sound disgusting, but during May and whatever month that PLB contest was (I think August) probably 25-28 days out of the month I played starting at 10 AM PST and finishing with tournaments that start at 8 or 10 PM pst. Thats 15 hour days most days. I would play every single 50 freez+ 10r+. Extremely unhealthy but It really helped me get a ton of understanding about the game.

  10. Hey man thanks for this. My question how many MTTs did you play until you won and which one was it? What's your advice when going card dead during the middle stages of a MTT? What's your generic advice in playing large field MTTs online with such a short starting sack ie. 1500-2000 starting stack MTTs
  11. - Counterspell or Goblin/Bolt/Rape decks????

    - Was Tempest the best set ever released??

    - Did you ever play in any Junior Super Series??? If so I prob whooped your ass....just sayin.

    1. Absolutely nothing... primarily because many of my friends were in Vegas and I wasnt because...

    2. Yes wooo fight on.

    3. No, I don't bet on anything. Im not a big gambler. If I didn't have an edge in poker I wouldnt play.

    4. yes very much

    5. Listen to Bax

    6. No, it wasn't a joke. I wan't to play with someone elses money because Im 100% sure it will help me concentrate and play well. I have an insane amount of respect for other peoples things and think that taking a preferable online deal might increase my personal ROI even with the backer cut. Nobody has approached me probably because they are afraid I will continue to tilt and throw away money. (However I would gladly add a clause to any contract that says I pay each of those tournaments that I throw away in full). It has nothing to do with me not having enough money to play them myself.

    7. No thanks :) Probably need better to take a deal.

I own a 360 and just got a wii. I never played video games growing up but tooled around with diablo2 with a few friends and then got into wow because my roommate played it in college. On Xbox I really only play halo but I own a million ea sports games. I just got a wii but only got Mario Galaxy because I miss old mario games and it was the highest rated wii game. Have 62 stars so far ship it. Fun game. I also have played a decent amount of DDR and am decent at it. Its gay but extremely fun if you actually get remotely into it. Good workout too.

Hmm. I honestly don't know how many tournaments I played before my first win. I do know that my first "big win" was the 50r on stars I think in december of 2006 for something like 15k or so, probably brought me to ~30k br.

Being card dead is usually something you simply cannot overcome. Being carddead for a long period of time generally means you are going to get shortstacked and then play standard push/fold poker. Don't change your game and accept this fact and you will be a better poker player.

Just be patient and play ABC poker. Let the bad players make mistakes.

Maybe u don't remember some of our history as well as I do. But one of my "greatest" (for lack of a better word) memories of playing w/ u was w/ 12 left in the 100r (circa summer 07), we were like 1 and 3 in chips and I either 4 or 5 bet u w/ Q9o and u snapped me w/ those pocket rockets (ty 4 not slowrolling). U obv went on to win the tourney. The whole time we played the hand in the FTOPS, I was under the impression u still thought I was totally Sweedish, so I leveled myself into thinking u had to be trapping me.

Fwiw, I would put u in the top 5 mtt players I've ever played against.

And yes I'm still good friends and learning from that top player

I've actually made it a resolution to be more civil on the boards. I do appreciate the advice and I understand that many P5s members are adults with a lot more life experience and are a lot wiser than I am. It sucks and I dont really know what else to say but I honestly and truly understand right from wrong and what makes me look bad and what doesn't. For whatever reason I can't follow what I consciously know. No excuse, obviously, but meh. I wish someone could teach me how to think before talking that would help lool.

Nope. But I do admire your desire to be a good poker player, its a quality that not many people have that I feel is extremely important. You honestly want to be good more than anyone else in the world.

  22. Imagine the most naturally talented poker player ever, but he has not started the game yet (mathematical genius, good self-discipline, whatever else you can imagine). What would be the minimum amount of time he would need to put in at the tables until he could become a top ten player? (Day one = what is a flop?)

In may I made over 100k. In the month of the competition (again August I think), I played over 1,000 MTTs and made ~100k, and I'm pretty that month I didn't run all that amazing. I won something like 3 of my 40 final tables during that month. I think that there are quite a few players that if they put in those hours would have ~100k $EV for the month

  24. Did you ever grind HU sngs?
Do you feel more people could make money from HU sngs than MTTs? (2nd question obv depends on alot of factors but i'm just talking about your average poker player)
  25. Scott,

These might have already been asked by someone but I didnt see anything as I read all posts.

    1) What was your actual BR when you started playing? Did you do like Annette and freeroll your way to get going or did a friend flip you some money to get started?

    2) Did you play SnG's to start out or just strictly MTT's?
  26. Scott,

Thanks for doing this and i've always had a high opinion of your poker game...

    1. For someone with a $2k BR and a full-time job, do you suggest they play HU SNG's or 6max/9max SNG's (naturally saying if your a sng genius) or a math genuis.

    2. When you first started out online, you say you grinded SNG's....so did you mix in MTT's with your sng play? and what % of MTT's to SNG's did you play>?

And congrats on your team's performance in the Rose Bowl....i watched it here in australia....and it was a great performance.

    Good luck in 2009.

This is going to sound really odd but I love you. You like andres want to be better poker players than just about anyone in the world. You also have a strong desire to understand the game rather than just learn/memorize the right play in certain situations. You are a nit, play fairly ABC, but I have absolutely 0 doubt in my mind that you can be as good as you want to be. IM me any time I love you. Can I back you?
