Just trying to understand the mentality of these players so if you once played a poor loose aggressive style it would be helpful. Is it just a lack of understanding of the game and hand values odds etc., they think poker is all bluffing, an excessive desire to gamble or an inflated ego and a belief that they can outplay everyone at the table.

ur obv too tight.. read up

Compared to what I have been seeing lately, that can be considered tight. Now i would understand a noob making some dumb plays but i have ran players on sharkscope with 2000-3000 sngs behind them and they are still making ridiculous plays, 4 betting all in with air. You think they would catch on at some point, not that I am complaining. What I can't figure out is how players that dumb can earn enough of an income to afford to play.

Early in a tournament, i want everyone at my table to be uber loose aggresive, late in a tourney i want weak tight at my table.
-
Not saying loose aggressive is bad if you know what you are doing and I am sure there are a lot of top players that do not play a predominantly loose aggressive style.
I'm talking about low stakes, particularly in PLO. There are players that play 80-100% of the pots and raise about half. -
Re:Were you once a loose aggressive donk?

to me, when someone says they play loose/aggressive, i take that as "i play bad, and just hope to get lucky, and when i do, i mistake that for skill" :)

I definitely started this way. Part of it was definitely a lack of understanding (hey, I have an ace, that's a good starting hand). Part of it though is that it works to some extent. I might throw my money in with a A5, but I get called by AJ and suck out or by KQ and I'm flipping.
Not only that, if you bet every street, you can get people to fold out. So, there is some reward in it, if not long term.
To be honest, if I had to take a raw player, I'd rather take a loose agressive donk over a calling station. You can't teach the guts to push with nothing, but you can teach someone that it isn't always the best to go full force in every hand (or I should say, the later is easier to teach). -
Not sure where I stand in the poker world but I have been playing the $1/45 on ps
and to me they are easy to beat for the most part. The biggest thing I have found is that
people will call you with a A/rag and top pair is golden to most players. I take some pretty
bad beats where most players should have never been in the hand to begin with but they
obviously either like to gamble or have no clue what the value of their hand is. Either way I
like having these players at my table because they give thier chips away. When I started
playing cards I played alot like these players. I always thought my A was automatic win and
would rarely fold it. I think they just have no basic concept of the game. Thats my .02 but
then again, im not really sure if I know what I am doing somtimes. I find myself calling down
some of these players when I know Im beat just because its hard for me to believe they
played 3 6 off and hit there straight on the river...........
On a side note....I play 1-5 dollars on line but when I play live I will play anywhere from $60 to
$350 for a tourney. And the play live at these stakes are just as bad as playing $1 tourneys
on line.....so the donkeys are (even me) at every level of buy in. -
LAG does not equal MANIAC.
Most Maniac players died off with FLHE.
My friends and the people I play live with think I run good since LAG almost always works for me with those TAGs, NITs and self admitted Donks..
Online, not so much................ I suck online. -
