There's plenty of venom (imo deservedly so) directed towards Frist, the GOP, the Falwells/Robertsons over what has transpired regarding online poker. But, there's also reports, which I believe to be true, that the Harrahs, among others, contributed money to Frist's coffers, and you have to know that the boys in Vegas have Harry Reid in their back pocket. Plus, I would also think that the California cardrooms have thrown a few bucks Pelosi's way.
It seems to me, that the casinos have enjoyed letting the the online poker sites build up the interest in poker, and then sat by with a smirk on their face while the gov't pulled the rug out from under us. The demand has been created, and if the worst case scenario plays out, they will be the overwhelming source of supply.
So here's my question. How can so many of you say that you'll never vote for another Republican, and yet in the same breath say, "Well, there's always 'live poker'"? As a life-long Republican, I join you in alienating myself from the GOP (not just because of this single issue), but I'll be damned if I'll plop my tired old ass into one of Harrah's poker seats and pay them the rake to do something that they helped (either by action or inaction) take away from me. It would feel extremely hypocritical.
So...here's one more crazy, hair-brained idea that I'll throw in the community pile. What if, every online poker player, either by petition or an email campaign, told the B&M's that they are boycotting their poker rooms, until they see the B&M's put some pressure on Reid and Pelosi to get this thing fixed in a commen sense matter? -
I think you are barking up the wrong tree. I have posted this before, if you are looking for who is behind this look no farther than the good ol NFL.
