  1. UB $200 tourney. 14 people left. I am sitting in 3rd place, but only have about 6k more than the average stack, which is about 18k. The only other info I can give you is that this was the 4th time I picked up AK in the last 12 hands. Reshoved over an all-in once (and lost) and re-raised and took down pots the other 2 times. So, my image was pretty aggressive.

Call and and see a flop?
    Shove?
    Fold?

  2. given your image i would have to think push. here's why...you said yourself you have had an aggressive image having AK 4 times in twelve hands, his range could be very wide (since you didn't tell us how this player plays...TAG, LAG, LAP, etc.) and you will definitely have a lot of fold equity here. So I say push most certainly if you are going for the win, don't call and possibly fold
  3. Hey Crush, I thought you played great and just got caught in a tough spot here.

You setup a nice trap here by hiding the strength of your hand with a standard 1800 raise. Grinder was the big stack and his repop easily could have been on a range like tens or JJ, and maybe even AQ. That type of repop often means AA or KK but Grinder had position on you and the big stack, plus he's a good player who knows how to represent those big hands.

So, the question is are you willing to race at this point in the tournament if you can't push grinder off his hand (if it's JJ or QQ)? A reshove by you often means AK, so he may not fold tens or jacks, plus he'd have 13k even if he loses. Not great but enough to play with. So getting him off those hands might be hard.

In any case, given your image at that table (aggressive) and the hidden strength of your hand, I think pushing is right -- you want to see all five cards.

One final note: the tournament ended unfortunately with Grinder heads up with the eventual winner. He lost his connection and had his blinds stolen as fast as humanly possible.

  4. Thanks Mindwise. It was definitely a tough spot. I didn't really know what to do at the time, and I'm still not sure what the best play over the long run is in that spot. I did think I could get him off TT or JJ because the only hands I'm pushing there are AA, KK, AK, and maybe QQ. Then again, your point about him still having 13k in chips left is well taken. He might just decide I did have AK there and call w/ TT or JJ.

Regardless, gg. You played great just to stay alive the last coule tables w/ such a short stack. Didn't see much of the final table, but I'm sorry to hear about Grinder losing connection, that blows.
