Sorry not got exact HH but it's just a question in general.. Hero (Me) has 3000 and blinds are 15/30 (2nd level) we are on the button with JJ.. Villain is in middle position and opens for 90.. Folds round to me and I make it 245.. Villain 4bets to 600.. How do we proceed?.. I know flatting is probably bad here as I'm going to find it hard to get away on like a 10,2,4 r flop.. And most of the time they just show me KK/AA.. Is just flat calling the 3x pre the best option? I feel like it is as we keep the pot small and still have position and don't need to get crazy post flop.. I realise 3bet/folding is bad with a hand as strong as this which was going to be my 2nd question..Help?? lol :S

# flat call pre instead of 3 betting is an option / and fold to villans 4bet this early on you want to be the aggresser not the one second gessing and if later on he continues aggression in other hands just pick your spot on him, but then again im no expert but its what id do :0

Your 3bet pre kind of fits your P5's username. 3 betting with no plan here is a spaz. This early in the tournament i'm almost always flatting here as I don't want to get 100 big blinds in with JJ against a player I'm assuming we have no reads on since none were given. If we did have reads that he opens a lot and flats 3 bets pretty widely then I might consider a 3 bet, but my default play is def to flat.

Why 3bet away a shot at flopping a strong set for 90 chips when you might pull 3k if you hit your set? Agree with what the others have said. This deep I'm never 3betting JJ.

times like these pure aggression is the key and accepting the fact you may be behind is part of poker, but if i'm 3 betting JJ i'm highly unlikey to fold to a 4 bet.

if you're willing to fold 600 chips post (20% of your stack) to an over pair or a shove then flat, if not i'd 5 bet it all in pre and che sera sera ! (jmo) -
I need a bit more overall information on your tournament structure and player info for opponent for real decision. In the fast tournaments I play with 15 min rounds and usually 105 players I am shove all day every day especially in position unless I know for sure this player is super TAG player. If I am gone so be it rounds too short and fast to wait and get short in less than 30 minutes anyway.

Flat pre, re-evaluate after the flop. It's too early to 3bet JJ.

You don't want to get JJ in vs most guys' 4bet ranges this early in the tourney. Also most regs are going to react to the 3bet by folding everything worse (some will setmine smaller pairs) and only continuing with better hands and AK. For this reason you should probably usually flat pre here. Against certain players though, 3betting can be very good. These are the players that are going to react to your 3bet by calling way too wide and rarely 4bet bluffing. 3betting JJ vs these guys can squeeze out quite a bit of extra value, but when you are 3betting these guys you should also be folding to their 4bet based on those tendencies.
