  6. I am no health nut by no means, but recently I was working on an article to post here(under submit articles, and hope it gets posted lol) that dealt with this very topic.

    Here is briefly what I have learned about food, and what to eat while plyaing(next topic was going to be what to drink, and I have done a bit of research on that already).

    Your brain needs certina neurotransimitters to properly function. 1 of those is serotonin, serotonin will effect your moods, thus making have a "high" one min and a "low" the next if things are going wrong.

    Also you need to make sure your blood sugar is level for you, if its to low, your body can in some cases get the "shakes", and thus your mental game will be affected as well.

    This is a short story based on what I have learned, I will post the article and hope for the best in the next day or two.

    As far as drinks, you want to aviod very caffinated drinks if you can help it due to the fact that a big dose of caffine will eventually wear off and cause you to "crash"(how many ppl need more then one cup of coffee for example to get through the day?). The same also goes for things heavy in sugar, natural sugars like the V8 that was mentioned above is good, mix that with some ice tea like you said you would have and you should be ok(dont actually mix the 2 in a glass, that would just be a bad idea lol). Me personally I like Arizona's green tea with ginseng and honey, ginseng is good for your mind/memory, green tea has some caffine, but not massive amts, and honey is good for your health. This way I never end up "crashing" from the drink wearing off.

  7. you should try blueberries. lots and lots of blueberries. so many blueberries that even if the tv cameras are covering you that you just keep shoving them in your mouth spoonful after spoonful.

  11. Not everyone will crash, but alot of people do. I didnt used to crash when I was drinking 6 cups a day, because i spread them out so that I would never start to feel tired....I do not do that now though.

    It was just a precationary measure, it depends on how strong the coffee is as well. If you are drinking 3 weak cups a day, then you wont "really" crash due to the fact that its not much caffine.

    You do crash a bit though....

    Just an example, and wont always be the case.

  12. natural vally oats and honey bars..very easy...fullfilling..
    tuna with chopped pickles and potatoe chips of your choice. all mashed together in a bowl.

    eat during breaks..never while your playing.
    if multiple..well then, u know.

I think the most important thing is to know what diet works for you. take note on how you feel after eating certain foods. try to avoid foods that are hard for your body to digest.( deep fried, starch, sugar.) I try to eat fruit, vegatables, and source o protein (chicken,fish,) avoid red meat.drink water avoid drinks w sugar caffiene and alcohol. I have friends that have had lots of sucess smokn weed. I used to smoke lots o weed but am cutting back for jiu- jitsu. I also have taken over counter drugsl like amino acids(glutamine, l-tryosine,and multivitamins. but am big on any right now.
    I reccomned tryn differant diets and try to be aware of how you feel physcally and mentally. find out what works best for you.
     
  15. Reduced fat Cheezit's........but I'm not very good with math.....If I eat 45 oz and the recommend amount is 15 oz, and the full fat amount is 5 oz, am I losing or gaining??/ LOL

    If I eat its usually chips or a snack like combos.

  29. Drinks aren't as good as real fruit for that.

    I get hypoglycemic and this is what works for me:

    To get quick hit of sugar once your sugar is low enough that you feel light-headed, shaky or weak, juicy fruit is the best -- oranges, ripe peaches or nectarines, ripe plums.

    For something to sustain you, nothing is better than an apple. If you feel hungry but can't eat a meal, this will really do the trick. It high in fiber so takes a while to digest so will provide you will nice steady caloric and sugar hit. And, if you don't mind getting ragged on, blueberries actually are really good to eat for that too as are strawberries. The downside being that people at your table will think you're a poser. :)

    BTW -- there's a better alternative to nutrition bars: I always have a handful of hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews or peanuts (if not allergic) with me. They are really really good nutritionally and much better than lots of breakfast/protein bars.
