What range of hands are you pushing in a sng, or in an mtt (once you are ITM) when you have
10 Big blinds?
7.5 BB?
5 BB?
Under 5 BB I'm assuming you are shoving with any two cards if it is folded to you.
Thanks!! -
Let's say for this scenario that your stack is 50% or more of everyoneelse's stack to you left, who you would try to steal blinds from. Thebubble just burst and we are ITM, so let's say there are 50 -150players left. You are playing for the final table, so moving up in paydoesn't matter to you, so you won't be stalling.
I'm primarlylooking for your range in late position, where most people will shoveif folded to them and they are short. Maybe the amount of bb's doesn'tmatter to you, and you are making the same move with 10bb or less, maybe position matters more to you than your stack. Feel free to giveme your pushing range by position....from the cutoff, button, and sb iffolded to you, or if you have a lot of time to think about it, yourrange in each position, with each stack (10bb, 7.5 bb, 5bb).
Also let's assume you view the players behind you as tight, not not just because of the bubble.
Pleasepm me, if you think you are pushing with the wrong hands and you areembarassed to post, for fear of being wrong. I'm not looking for thecorrect answer here, I'm looking for what YOU would do. I probablyshould ask this on a more mainstream forum where the majority of theplayers aren't good, but think they are. You can also answer with whatranges you see from other players. I'm working on a project, so any answers help. Thanks!! -
Basically when I am at 13-10 bb or so I play pretty tight, and its all or nothing poker. You have time to wait to catch a v nice re raise all in hand (ak aa kk qq) or good hand that you dont mind action, from late (jj+ aqs+).
as the blinds eat you down waiting for these top 5% hands or so, sure you have to open up the range big time. Harrington explains it all better then I ever could...
when I am down to say 6-10 bb then I start to be willing to get loose especially at the low end, and especially if even 1 loose player entered the pot by limp or by 3*bb.
if I have qks or 77 and I have 9 bb with a mid pos loose player r for 3bb I will raise all in knowing he is pot committed and if it is juts him and I in the hand I have a good chance at at least a 50-50 and maybe even a 60-40 (if he is real loose) or even better (kqs vs kj does well).
and when under 5bb sure I open push with almost any two when it is folded to me.
OH -- and I play this way regardless of whether or not I am ITM. The ITM point is not that important if what you care about is ROI (and that is what you SHOULD care about).
The only way in which ITM matters it that is matters to many of your opponents! and then you exploit this fact... if you want to be a good MTT player (and play for a stack by the FT where the real $ is), you should V rarely let your play be affected (much) by whether you are ITM or not.

generally when you are itm, players loosen up, and are more willing to push than when on the bubble. thx for your response.

yes OK, I miss-understood ya... given that ITM has an influence on say 30-50% of the players at your table, then this fact ought to influence how you play in turn... that's right, you are correct IMO
