AA or KK most likely. He's already flat called then reraised all in. Looks a lot like second hand low. If it's an aggressive table I would say aces or kings. People do strange things so I could be completely wrong. AK and QQ also in the frame.

Y looks like he limped behind the first guy with a big hand hoping to get the scenario he got. I agree that you should have limped as well and not blown the pot up so big. you have position good value to flop big and win a big pot. I would say his range is ak,TT+. Your iso raise also kind of looks weak and bluffy so not sure he gives you much credit in this spot. it's hard to say

What is your table image? Does he have reason to believe you would make this move light? Are there alot of aggressive players to his left? The reason I ask is because it is such a strange line. One thing I can think is that he was worried about the limp by jomatrix25 and has some sort of pair (TT-JJ) hand but when you raise and the action comes back and jomatrix25 just flats he's no longer worried about his hand. Other then that he might have a monster and called the limp hoping to look really weak to induce exactly this type of action and now he wants to narrow the field.

Well interesting comments. I honestly thought that 99-AA were quite unlikely hands to over limp an UTG limper (just seems like trouble for most big pair hands to limp there and play a 5 way pot if another limper and blinds come in). My image is semi aggressive but I hadn't shown many hands down. I had also raised a few limpers in similar spots a couple of times so his potential to try to squeeze there seemed high. My take on it was that he likely has AK (the speed of his reraise plus I would imagine QQ-AA to reraise a little smaller to give me rope to hang myself). I am worried about JJ or TT type limps.
I ended up getting it in vs AK and winning the race and the player berated me. Granted I haven't played a ton of MTTs in the last few years, have peoples lines changed that much that overlimping with AA-JJ is common?? -
Oh and jomatrix was limping about 70% of pots and I was punishing him continually...that might have been a factor as well in my decision

Edited By: TheSquirrel Jun 19th, 2012 at 01:20 AMSecond hand low is nothing new, it's an old tactic. It's basically slow playing aces relying on a later raise. It is either flat calling the BB or even flat calling an early raise then hoping for a reraise from a player in later position. It can go spectacularly wrong but works a dream at an aggressive table. Obviously aces is the best hand to do it with, but it also works to a lesser extent with KK, QQ, and AK. It was used well before the average player became aware of the squeeze play. To be genuine "second hand low" it probably should be aces. I'm surprised the hand turned out to be AK rather than AA or KK. Usually in that situation you are crushed.Originally Posted by pearljam1012
