  1. I had a friend sucessfully finish a 400 point satelite for me today. I am now in the 4000 point satelite that pays the top 2 players a seat into a european tournament. He mentioned that if I get luckly enough to win a seat and then place in the money that he should get 10%. I said that I thought that was a a little high, and he called me a cheap skate and sounded annoyed.

Here is the logic I used to determine that 10% was too high.

    1. I was the chip leader with 107 player remaining of a field of 220 players, when I asked him to finish for me. The tournament was giving 22 seat out.

    2. These 400 players points freerolls are not that difficult. I have won seats in about 20-30% of these tourneys as they pay out 10% of the field. If I hadn't won this particular seat, I could have just bought into the tourney he helped me win a seat to for 4000 points.

    3. I havent actually won anything yet, except a seat to another satelite, and I believe the value of the seat he helped me win is only around $500.00.

I know this all sound petty, but I just don't want to go into a tournament feeling distracted about outside situations. I have won seats before to both The WSOP and The WPT. So, winning is not out of the realm of possibility. I don't want to cheat a friend and I don't want to feel like I'm being taken advantage of either.

At some level, Im sure he was joking, but if I was to get incredibly lucky and win something substantial I wouldn't want that to effect our friendship. Therefore, I would like to talk to him about fair compensation before a single card is dealt. Could you please give me your thoughts on this sitaution.

    Thanks
  2. 10% is pretty low, 25-40% is better
  3. 25-40% for the seat won sure, but not to the next event?

  4. How much is the seat he won for you worth?

Pay him like 30% of that and be done with it.
  5. i say 10-15% of the winnings
  6. Also, no way is a 4000 point entry worth $500.
  7. I agree with thay3r. I would have no problem paying him 30% of the value of the seat he helped to win. I believe the seat is valued at about $500.00

  8. Ya, I'd say 10% isn't high at all.. if it wasn't for him, you would have had to have been blinded out.. stop being cheap.... If you win "Big" say and win 15 mil, do you really care if you have to give him 1.5 mill? lol
  9. You think it is worth less that $500.00?

  10. yes?
  11. 4000 FPPs is worth around $65.

  12. Assuming the seat he won you is $65 (like AB says), give him $25-30 and call it even. No point in carrying the % over to future tournaments that you will play, he only helped you with this particular one.
  13. that sounds fair to me.

  14. he won a point satellite to another point satellite by cruising into the top 20% of the remaining field with the chip lead? this doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment. I'd give him $10 and tell him to stop whining.
  15. once again I agree.

  16. you guys are fucking cheapskates. you wouldnt even be playing the 4000 sat if it wasnt for him. however now that i thought it over 5% of the winnings would be fine, if this were my friend i would def hook up 5-10%. if you were my friend i would kick you in the balls for being so cheap
  17. Offer him $20 now or tell him he can have 1% of you if/when you make it to the EPT and obviously win it all.
  18. well I could just buy in for 4000 points and have done so many times.
