  1. Reading with interest the recent case of the full tilt player who had his funds frozen for 90 days has got me thinking about the implications for those who make their living out of the game.

Say you go pro, give up your job etc then decide to multi table FT & Stars all day long at $1/$2 and you start earning $400 a week at both sites month after month. Then one morning, you log in to FT or pokerstars and you find you cant log in. You email them and they email you back saying your funds have been frozen for 90 days and you cant play until they've sorted things out.

What happens if it turns out you are innocent after all? Do FT reimburse you 90 days worth of winnings or are you clearly at the mercy of FT's security department and its "tough titty, we were wrong and sorry you lost out on 90 days winnings".

So do FT & Stars offer some sort of compensation package when they get it wrong?

Whilst Im all for cleaning up the game, I do beleive in an innocent until proven guilty line.
  2. NO
  3. No.
  4. The guy your talking about didn't even challenge it for like a few months right?
  5. No.
  6. I do not think that was the point of his question. He was using that as the back reason for asking his actual question, which is slightly different.
  7. Its irrelevant wether he challenged it or not, Im just asking that if FTP or pokerstars freeze your funds and stop you playing for 90 days and then admit they were mistaken, do they compensate you for loss of earnings.

  8. My question to you Bradley is if it happened to you on one site and you innocent but it took 90 days to prove it wouldnt you just go to a different site in the mean time and play the same amount of games you normally play.

Second- If someone is suing you and you miss work because you have to be in court, no matter if you win the case or not, you are not going to get your money back for the time you had to take off of work because of the being sued. I usta watch a lot of Judge Judy and the defendant would always try to counter-sue for the the wages they would of made if they didnt have to be in court. Needless to say they all had no case and lost.
  9. curtass you have some legitimate points, but these sites are run by off shore companies not in the united states. so i would be interested also as to how they would handle this situation. (IE. your judge judy claims arent really applicable).
  10. The only reason players get compensated when a poker site gets it wrong is that the site is practicing "good business". They're under no obligation from a regulatory perspective to abide by any kind of compensation for hardship or statute of limitations. Thankfully, that's enough incentive for the major sites - for now. Bottom line is, absent your ability to make a case for yourself by lobbying sites like this and stir the pot enough for them to care, you're at the mercy of the site's judgment.
  11. You kinda took my words out of context about the Judge Judy thing. It was a metaphor. I am fully aware of the companies being located offshore. I was giving him another way to look at it.

To also kinda contradict my statements from the other point of view you can also say that when a person is wrongfully convitced of a crime, he/she 9 times out 10 will get some sort of compensation from the U.S. Government depending on the severity of the punishment that he/she recieved for the wrongful conviction.
  12. FT and PS might at least respond to your email which is more than say UB or AP would likely do.

Where would the bankroll come from if FTP or stars had frozen half of it? What about the lucrative rakeback deal you signed up with FTP for? What about the fact that FTP & Stars are far more liquid than other sites?

I guess the answer to that one though is to only leave small amounts of money on each site - enough for day to day playing, rather than huge amounts, so if they ever do "cock it up" then your money is safely in your bank account and the most youve lost for 90 days is 10 buy ins.
