  1. So.. take sunday for example.. Register in 3-5k or more in buyins pending the time of year.. or go play a 2.5k event at a brick and mortor? This question is more directed to players who have had success in both arenas, live and online. What do suggest has the greater EV, grinding online mtts or live tourneys? I apologize for the question being so vague, was just curious of what some of you guys and gals think.. thanks for your responses!

  2. I'd say any day of the week it's live. Sundays, it depends on what first is...I asked backer if I could go play WSOPC 1600 ME that was on Sunday and he said it wasn't worth it (first is 100k)....if ur playing a live event with 1m to first, I'd prolly go live then too.

EDIt: not backing up my opinion with anything, just think live is softer+bigger prizepools even if variance can't be found in life, etc etc.

  3. online

  4. ur roi in live events will be higher but due to volume levels ur ev is higher online.

Theres other intangible ev factors too tho like if its a series event etc then there def ev in actually winning a bracelet/media exposure etc etc but from a purely prize money point of view then ur ev should be higher grinding a day of online
  5. Live is where all the fish are. The majority of gamblers do so in real casinos, therefore there are more gamblers in live tournaments than online. Gamblers typically are not good poker players.
  6. obv live events dont drum up the same size fields and as a results the pool will be smaller. IMO most of the players playing a live 200 tourney, have no business playing what so ever. But I will never tell them to stop. Live is easier, just have to deal with lo volume.
  7. well considering that it was essentially impossible to make a living playing tournament poker before online poker came along (except a very select few obvi), i'd say the answer has to be online. you can be in 10 places at the same time with online poker. for a skilled player, i dont see how that wouldn't be ++++EV.

  8. online BY FAR....no overhead expenses....more hands per hour. Befhawk....are you kidding?
  9. i just look at it is...wouldn't i be more +EV playing 5k worth of buy-ins online sunday (roughly 25 tournaments) , or just 1 live 5k tournament. Can't imagine the 25-30 tournies equalling 5k in buy ins not being more profitable long run than 1 live tournament for the same buy-in.

  10. I'm only 22 and have been playing full time/for a reasonable living without any assistance or backers since I've been 15... and I must say I've been making inf more then I ever did online after converting to playing live full time this year, but again that's just me... and I also never had any huge scores (or also any legit losing months after year 1 that was strictly from poker) from grinding online or I'd probably think differently about this
  11. Online - no question... full mtt schedule instead of one... no traveling expenses.
