  1. After being a hardcore online poker animal for a year, I took a few years off. I sign into bodog last week and saw nobody on the site. I had to wait 25 minutes to play a sit n go. What the hell happened to Bodog? I know they were a shit site, but they had traffic. They always adjusted game lines on the sportsbook to screw me out of a half point or even a full point. I like betting favorites, so I would tell me buddy to give me the line on bodog from his house. So if the Celtics were -6.5 on my cpu, he would have a number of -6. Sometimes even lower than a half point, up to a point and a half difference. So I know first hand that they are shaddy. But I wouldn't think that people would stop playing poker on the site. I made a ton of money playing poker in 2006 on Bodog. They would have a shit load of overlay in their mtt's. No other site has loss traffic like Bodog, so what happened? Can someone please tell me what the F happened to the site.

    Thanks pocketfivers!

  2. I always thought that they had drones playing from Costa Rica. Bodog employees playing under accounts and winning huge cashes. That could explain why they have huge overlay in mtt's.

  3. -Withdrawl issues (checks bouncing/taking 30 days to receive, etc.)
    -Lack of Guarantees
-Cash games were discovered to be super soft and taken over by regs which killed the ev when it became 4 regs attacking 2 fish at 1/2 6 max tables, etc.

W/drawl issues have been vastly improved, but traffic is minimal except Sundays - Sportsbook is still nice.

  4. hmmm, if they crank up the line on favs, bet the dogs?

  5. It's all but impossible to get money on Bodog. I've referred few friends to bodog and none have been able to deposit.

and the problem getting the money off of there

i always view the guarantees as a fluid situation so the movement with the amounts doesnt bother me
  8. Well....the withdrawal problems have been confirmed by many to be a thing of the past. I know they're now putting a lot of effort into the deposits, and I have to applaud them for working on withdrawals first--it's not an easy decision, but I think it was the right one for their customers.

I definitely think the deposit/withdrawal issues are the number 1 reason for the decline in traffic there. I'm hoping that as people begin to notice the improvements and again have higher confidence in their system, traffic will rise once again. We've definitely been getting highly positive feedback on Bodog over the last 4 or 5 months.

  9. for me it was the software change..... when it started folding my hands for me with no "auto fold" option checked....... and then the only way to stop it was to leave the table and come back or close the client and open it again....... that chit kinda rubbed me the wrong way....

only other issue was when I cashed out like 40% of my roll and they tell me the check was bad after I cashed it.... they send another pretty quick and I cash that...... they both wind up good and i now have a micro roll.....

wound up just cashing it all out and moving to stars / tilt.......

P.S. run like a kangaroo on tilt......
  10. i would middle it. I would pound the under, then I would wait for them to knock the line down a have point. I would then buy the half point the other way.

So if they gave me celts -6.5 I would play the under. Then when they moved the line the other way on me before the game I would get it at 6, buy the half point to over 5.5 and try to squeeze them for a grand if it landed on 6. I love how Calvin was all over The Best Damn Sports show bragging and doing all these Bodog tv events. I think it's funny he can't even pay people out. I knew it was a hack site. It isn't in any poker site's best in trest to lay huge overlay in mtt's. He had to of had bodog drone's playing in these games. Not saying they would finish 1,2,3. But I would say that they finished high up enough in the money so he could recoup some of his overlay losses.

  11. OP is asking for slightly older history. Here's what happened to Bodog traffic.

    1. Former owner Calvin Ayre was featured on the cover of Forbes, pissing off the US govt, who targeted Bodog's transactions, especially since it is also a sportsbook. They ended up having payout problems because of this as money they had given to 3rd party payment processors (the check writers) got seized, causing them to eat millions and causing some checks to bounce. They made good on all withdrawals though.

    2. Bodog got sued by some small time guy that they didn't pay attention to, and a judge awarded him the bodog.com domain names. This KILLED traffic obviously as "bodog.com" was high on Google results for poker and sports betting etc. They had to regroup and switch everything over to bodoglife.com (after trying newbodog.com first).

    3. They lowered all of their guarantees while traffic was down, waiting to build back up. This backfired because it caused lots of the faithful regs to reduce play or leave too.

    4. Feeling the heat, Calvin sold off to a Canadian tribe, and they were much more conservative with guarantees/overlays, and the mtt schedule wasn't consistent from day to day. More regs moved on.

Then the other issues people mentioned as far as slow checks (now fixed, fastest checks in the business right now) and deposit difficulties (don't know, probably better). They brought consistency back to their mtt schedule, with steady overlays again too.

They've now got things running smoothly, it just takes a long time to get traffic momentum back up after it's fallen off.
  12. I don't know why people have trouble depositing with Bodog. I used my debit card to deposit on to the site 3 weeks ago. Did 3 deposits and was some of the easiest deposits I had ever made to a poker site. I also like the fact that they have a phone number that I can call and actually talk to someone if I have a problem. I know the traffic is bad, but there is still money to be made. I lost my first 2 $20 deposits quick, but with my 3rd one, I have currently have a bankroll of $1925. If more people would give it a shot Bodog rewards the players. 2 days last week the $12 rebuy went above the guarantee and the next day I noticed bodog upped the guarantee by a $1000 dollars. Give Bodog a chance and. take advantage of their overlays.

    use your debit card

  14. I used my Credit Card to deposit again on Bodog in early January 2009 (actually 2 deposits of $300) after taking all my money off the site in middle of 2008. I havent had any issues with 2 payouts so far and theyve both been here within a week so far...

  15. I got a check recently that only took 4 days - - Would be nice if they added a few more payout options, and they really need to add some more mtts

This happened with the domain change. They were supposed to bring back the same MTT schedule that made the place a success when I played there from 3/07-8/07 but they never did. If they brought the schedule back from that time frame, I'd be playing on the site again, loved that schedule.

  17. Playing at Bodog in 04-till Oct.06 was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I'd give my right testicle for neteller,10% reload anytime bonus, all the worst players you can ever find.

  18. ive prob deposited 5k on there recreation sports betting since i was in high school. i dep 400 to bet some ncaa games. i hit. the money was taken outta my bank acocunt fine. wass 14 days later. now theyre making me make a copy of the cc and my license to accept withdrawal. i still havent done it yet and now are even for the site. fsgbkjdsbfgbkjgbjnbbfgn.

fuck bodog imo. only prob is its one of few sports betting sites. so im stuck:(
  19. Three different people I know tried using their debit cards and none worked. I use my debit card on Bodog and it works perfectly fine for me. Certain banks will not allow you to put money into an online gaming account I guess.

  21. plus you can't fund transfer between, so most high stakes players can't play as can't get money from backers.

i barely play there, cause no tourneys worth playing. was one of the sites i always played on, love that site, but sucks now.

  22. Bodog regs > 2009 Bodog

I really hope the traffic increases so I can justify playing there again.
  23. they need more $55-$109 DS freezeouts with decent guarntees

i really, really think this is the primary reason. they never were great with payout times, and they always were a little bit harder to get money onto, but when this happened, they got killed. that domain name change massacred traffic; the guarantees have never recovered to what they were before the change.

  25. I stopped playing June 08 on bodog. Have things changed at all? Or are they giving up on poker.
  26. I just recently started playing on there again just for the Sunday 100k tourney. Its the only thing I play. Best value tourney online.

  27. Prepaid Visa debit cards work just fine on Bodog for me. You can try www.greendotonline.com or www.moneytreeinc.com to see if either of these are offered in your area. They both work fine for me.
  28. Sousa is the man

  29. Hello Sousa,

Good Seeing you back online and in action. I always wondered where the infamous bodog crew went to.. I have mostly moved to FTP and PS only because i get my check in the mail within about 5 days. Bodog is such a sick site to make money in their tournies ( we would know ) but i cannot wait 30+ days. My last deposit there took 42 business days with support jerkin me around with it. Anyways keep in touch.

It's back now. This is the press release e-mail:

    For Immediate Release

    Apr. 21, 2009

KAHNAWAKE, CANADA and ST. JOHN'S, ANTIGUA - Bodog and the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group (www.morrismohawk.com) announced today the finalization of a domain licensing agreement and the resurrection of the world-renowned www.bodog.com.

The MMGG acquired many valuable domains including www.bodog.com - when it recently settled a patent case that had been ongoing in the United States. When asked why the MMGG stepped in, Mr. Alwyn Morris, Chief Executive for the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group noted "While the MMGG was not the judgment debtor, the defendant supplier hadn't been operational since 2007 and there was therefore simply no possibility of their satisfying the default judgment. We are the exclusive licensee of the 'Bodog' brand within the region and so our business was impacted by anything that cast a shadow across the brand. We wanted to remove any residual uncertainty that this case had created, and we wanted to acquire the domains - it was a straightforward business decision."

"We are absolutely thrilled to be able to return the Bodog experience to its rightful home the reaction of staff and key suppliers has been thunderous," says Mr. Morris. "We will be transitioning the MMGG site to this domain over the coming weeks. Moreover, we have only just this morning inked a deal with Bodog Antigua, from whom we license the Bodog brand. Under this contract, outside of our brand license territory, the www.bodog.com domain will be redirected to the other brand licensees' sites, as appropriate. One domain, worldwide."

Keith McDonnell, Managing Director of Bodog Europe noted "As the 'Bodog' brand licensee for Europe, we are ecstatic to see the return of www.bodog.com. Working with the MMGG and the other licensees, geo-targeting will be used to ensure visitors outside of the MMGG's territory are directed to the correct site, including ours (www.bodoglife.co.uk). This way, the marketing efforts of every licensee to promote www.bodog.com benefit us all, ultimately reinforcing and strengthening the global brand. It will absolutely be a win-win-win solution."

Mr. Morris added "The MMGG and the other Bodog licensees are experiencing tremendous momentum right now, and we are confident that this will only add fuel to the remarkable growth and expansion of the businesses. The brand is stronger than ever and a new day is dawning everyone feels it."

    Bodog.com is back!
