One thing I do is try to find something I want to buy and I won't buy it until it's only 10% of my networth, I think spending more than that at one time is too much of your bankroll....Personally I just want to be the best or atleast be as good as I possibly can, I mean the rankings are cool but I realize I'm not the 2nd best player online; it would just be silly to think that....I can think of a lot of players that are better than me and I just wanna be as good as them so that's what keeps me grinding everyday. Oh, and I love money.

Also, weed and loud music. -

Money and the never ending process of learning and trying to improve. Poker is kind of sick like golf in that way.

For me, the question is WHO keeps you motivated, and the answer is the top 10 list on p5's.

Money is why I play but it's not really my motivation. If I were to play 2 tournies the first I took 3rd for $4500 and the other I won for $3200, depending on how I played I would be much happier about the win. I would probably lose sleep over the 3rd, especially if I felt like I didn't play well. There have been a few times I was doing decent in an MTT and wasn't into playing. I would pull up the lobby and try to talk myself into caring by saying look your playing for a lot of money, but I don't find it that inspiring. I like to listen to podcasts with great players and I love the stories of how they came up also railing them deep. Their success inspires me.

This. My friends dont understand this at all, they think, "Damn, you just won $1500 off a $10 buy-in, who cares if you got 2nd." I care and thats my motivation. I want to win.

Those 45-mans make me want to shoot myself after a 3-hour session, regardless of results. That's why I mostly play MTTs.
