1. I think 15% of online poker players are winning players.
I believe the percentage is even lower for live players.
2. Reasonable statements on both parts...I might hazard a guess that the online % is a little lower (10-12%, maybe).

3. Much lower for online players, maybe 6-8% is my guess...

Live play is probably a little higher, maybe 8-10%...
4. didnt we have one of these threads on the weekend? Please use the search button.
5. 55%
1
6. 6.35%
7. lol at 55% no f'n way

i think its probably less than 15% to tell you the truth... closer to 10% probably win over the long term...

idk which is better though live or online... lots of stupid people that lose in both...
8. If you factor in all of the losing online MTT players that are winning cash game players then its probably around 75-80%
9. 95.3 are up.... just ask them

10. Your only a lil off actually....94% are losers
11. So that means that 9 out of the 10 people who responded to this are losers? I think it is closer to 10% winners,20% break even, and 70% losers
12. well see thats an ignorant comment

assume 90% of the players online are losers
of the hundreds of thousands of players how many are active pocket fives members?

assume 20% of them are pocket fives members (big number) only HALF the people that responded to this are losers/breakeven...
13. This is my first post ever... I know someone that used to write for ESPN.com whom I met at Foxwoods a million times. Maybe he still writes for them... Anyhow, I bumped into him in Vegas and he told me that he spoke with an executive of one of the major poker sites and was told 3-5% make a living from playing online and don't have any other job. As far as what percentage are marginally profitable online I do not know.
14. Define making a living. 18 year old that lives with mommy and daddy could be making a living, lots even call themselves a professional poker player, probably makes a living do it.
15. Using your logic there are 0 winning players that are not p5s members.
16. well that isnt what i meant.. but whatever..
17. same question was posed a week or two ago.

i looked at OPR at the time and 26% of unique stars players were winning at mtts over the past 120 days.

many of these were very small winners and clearly the number that can sustain a winning record for a year or more will be less, probably not too far from your 15% number.

as for making a living, that wasn't the question that was asked, but i'd be surprised if it was more than a few percent.

18. "lol at 55% no f'n way"

Got Leveled?

19. Admins. should save this thread and re-post it every week.

Anyway, as I usually add to the weekly thread asking this question; Sharkscope says 1/3 of players are winners based on 60 million SNGs.
20. ESPN once stated on there website during the WSOP that only 8% of online players make money. They got the info from just one of the poker sites.
21. id say maybe 6-8%

22. I wouldn't be surprised if it is higher. They might not be winning alot but there are probably other players like myself that are just marginally better than break even players over the course of time. But that still makes me a "winning" player.... just not very successful. LOL
23. 10%

1% are big winners

24. this year im a winner...in may i deposited 300.00 on stars....i now have almost 400.00 and have withdrawn about 900.00
