  1. Hello all. As a new player, I feel I should ask the lovely folks here about some recent happenings in my game, and get some hopefully helpful answers. Since this happens 1789452678474362.68 times a day, I'll change it up by giving some backround first, then asking some questions in rapid fire mode. I call it...Power Posting, and it's copyrighted under my name.

    -My BR hovers around $100

-I play some $0.01/0.02 PLO, $0.05/0.10 Limit Holdem, $0.02/0.04 NL, and mostly $3.40 Turbo SNGs.

-I've been playing on stars a week or so and my BR is up or down a few Buy ins for the SNG's at any time.

-I made another thread a while back about myself and other info, and am too lazy to dig it up, but when I do, I link here here for all other info that you folks might need.

-In my super limited sample of SNG, I find the first two spots, or the last few spots are what I am most in. [1st and 2nd, or 6th-10th]

    Ok, are you ready............? Good.

-I should be well off playing the $3.40, as in my BR is not in any threat?

-Does my few 3rd and 4ths mean something good?

-Is my sample so small, I shouldn't even look into it?

-Is my tighter play not good with these Turbos? I find I'm either slowly melted away with the rising blinds, until I'm in push or fold mode with a stack so meager it is always called by many, or I catch some cards and have a good chiplead and can get to the final two.

-Should I play less tight in these during the middle, or even at the start?

-Are Turbo's so much of a crapshoot, that I'd be better off playing the $5.50's?

-Is my BR ready for the $5.50's?

-I find my cash game play is not really good at all. I either get a few monster pots and am up, or my tight play gets me slowly down to nothing after a few hours. Any advice or help?

-Should I look into playing something else, either a new level of cash or SNG?

-Should I avoid MTT's for now? I haven't played any, but the $4.40 180 mans look like something I'd like to try.

-Anything I should be asking but am not?

-Any and I mean anything that could help me out?

    -Boxers or Briefs?

    -Coke or Pepsi?

Let's see what you guys and gals can do........
  2. I think the 4 180 man is outta your bankroll as well as the 5 sitngo to play regularily but is borderline to take a shot at once or twice...Id try the 1 buck 45 man or the 1.50 18 man turbo first...as far as MTT play the odd 1 bucker is allright or play the 10 centers for practice if u want...You could play 10/20 cent limit safely...but I'd be only playing 1/2 cent NL to start...read the singo articles in the archives for solid advice....boxers...Coke..good luck
  3. Thanks very much for the response ace1won. I thought that the $4.40 and the $5.50 were a little far out. I'll take a stab or two at them is I'm feeling up to it, but for now, the $3.40 Turbo is my home. And that $1 45 man seems like something I'll play just to get some practice, as the pay outs of that thing are not worth playing in the them for just that.

Keep it the info and advice coming folks, it's what Jesus would do, although I hear he's more of a 7-card Stud guy.

  4. One of the most helpful pieces of advice someone gave me when I was starting was to think in terms of 1 bet, 2bets / 1buy-in, 2buy-ins, etc. as opposed to $1, $2, and so on. The reason this is so helpful is that it helps to desensitize you to the change in stakes as you move up. This is also beneficial in combatting the boredom and tendency to get antsy when grinding through lower limits(Not to make it sound like I'm some sort of high roller...lol). Moral of the story: Play within your comfort zone but also at a level that keeps you motivated.

  6. I wrote an article about this when i started with 2 dollars on the beginning of march. Its under submitted articles, if you have any questions on it you can pm.

Stick with the 3 dollar turbos to gain exp. while building a roll. The 3's are such a joke that you can just follow Adams guide and should be fine. Without knowing anything about your play, the thing i see wrong is you said you get 9th and 10th if you're not finishing in the money. This is not good. People play so aggressively that you can usually just fold to 5th in these. Don't get involved in hands in the first two levels without at least AQ or better. If there are multiple limpers its okay to limp with a pocket pair only to try to hit a set because implied odds are so good against at these levels. At 25-50 start opening up your game. gl, noneedtobluf
