Hi all, looking to get poker tracker or some other similar software. Have also heard about poker stove??? It's probably terrible how long i have been playing with out using these tools so if anyone has any recommendations or could explain a little about how they work or point to a good place to find information, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

pokserstove is an odds calculator and pokertracker is used for tracking your results. You can get pokerstove for free so it cant hurt, you can also get a free trial of pokertracker, just google both and download them or checkout the sites below

Mine is working fine what seems to be the problem?

Pokertracker 3 sucks apparently and is buggy as hell so be careful with that.
Hold'em Manger is tried and tested but once pt3 gets it shit together it will be better
PokerEV is eventually releasing a package also which I'm looking forward to
imo just use pt2 for now if you can -
As others have said PT3 is ass right now and it really seems like they dont care about fixing it in any kind of reasonable time.
PT2 and PAHuD are the way to go. -
I am using poker office. It's more expensive, but I was able to easily figure out how to use it, etc, and really, $80 a year isn't that much at any limit for the extra information that it gives you (especially if your multi tabling).

i am not having any problem with pt3 other than having to resatrt it a few times not much

pahud was screwed up for me too. i play tourneys, and it didnt do well with table changes (stars only i think). so i would have to manually uncheck old tables for the new ones to work.
pt3 has an awesome hud. has 3 bet stats, and 4 bet if you want them. i love how customizable the hud is, and how easy it is to use, i love the program.
on my fast xp machine, pt3 would steal focus from my mouse every time it started, and it has to be restarted a lot due to excessive crashing. this would cause me to time out a lot at the table during the day. i meani have timed out to river shoves having the nut straight. timed out with AA pre, timed out on flops with lots of action with a set and a dry looking board. very sick.
on my faster brand new top of the line vista machine, the focus stealing isnt a prob anymore, not even a little bit. and the hud may crash less too, not sure, but def still crashes all through the day... but since it runs much smoother on vista (or it could be the .75 gb more of usuable ram, or other hardware i guess, not sure why), it isnt the end of the world i def use it everyday.
they are supposedly trying to fix it, but my problems have been here for last several versions, and they stopped responding to my support tickets. new versions come out hardly ever now. once it seemed every few days, now it seems every few weeks, with no changes.
i suggest using it for the hud, i dont really use it for anything else. so im unaware of any other possible issues.
and dont pay for it till they fix it. -
I was a user of pokeroffice, but decided I wanted to try something different. In the past few weeks, I have tried out both Pokertracker3 and Holdem Manager. While I have not had any problems with PT3 (I've heard a lot of stories about software bugs), I've found Holdem Manager to be a little more user friendly.
Both have built in HUDs (which are statistical displays on the table for each player). PT3 has a 2 month free trial. Holdem Manager has a 5,000 hand free trial. I would recommend trying them both out and seeing which you feel more comfortable with.
