So i cashed in the ME low for just over $600 (brag post obv) and now have a roll of $800. I was just gonna take it out and top up my stocks account but i keep reading on here about these micro grinders making steady money so i think i'm gonna see if i can improve it.
Normally i just play random tourneys when i feel like with no regard for BR management. I would like to become a successful grinder though, so tonight i played 6 180 man 4.40's and the play was just shocking yet i still didn't even cash in 1 although on the bubble of 1 i ran kk into aces. Its just so hard to adjust your raise sizing in these, you make it 4bbs and half the table call, i ended up making it like 6 or 7bbs to get people folding or just 1 caller lol plus antes don't come in till very late which makes it even more tricky to make +ev raises.
What would you play with this roll? Would really like to hear from successful grinders. -
Don't know what everybody else does but I don't play anything more than 100/1 of my roll (ok sometimes I spoil myself, but rare). I think the 4.40's are perfect for you. On the border of playing some 7.70's imo
-
They're just really awkward to play though, with the raise sizing pre and stuff. I actually find it easier playing bigger buyin tournies because you can narrow down calling ranges but obv i'm not rolled to play them regularly. Is 800 too little to play $25nl cash do you think?
-
I like those $8.80 Deep Stack tourneys. Nice relaxing and suitable for your bankroll. I would not take it out to invest it in stocks....too small of an amount. just perfect for the leisurely bankroll.
-
I agree, stick with the 4.40s, try some of the super soft 6.50 45 mans too. It is reeeeeeeeeally easy to get complacent after a big score like this, but it's a great opportunity to get some footing and find a "niche" that makes you some consistent money. What you said about adjusting to your calling station opponents leads me to think that you have the right mindset to get better at the game, even though I'm not sure raising 7BBs is ever a good idea. But anyways just keep being a reflective and thinking player, and you should be able to make some money at these stakes easily.
-
ive been playin 25nl 6max with 500 and its fine, i think youll be perfectly fine with 800 bucks at 25nl
-
Lol, obv i'm never raising 7bbs pre in a tourney with players that know what they're doing but if you've ever played a 4.40 180 you'll understand. Are you making money at 25nl degen? I think i'll give that a shot, i don't have the patience for low level sng calling stations. 1 particular hand almost all the table limped and i pumped it up to 12 bbs with aq like half my stack, 1 guy calls i miss the flop and jam the rest, guy insta calls with a2 after pairing his 2 on the flop lol how do you play against those people seriously.
-
Durrrr challenge, Phil Helmuth exploited his weakness.
-
i assume then that the whole roll is on stars? 16 dolla 18 mans are pretty soft and have the lowest per capita rake of any of the games you are rolled for.
If you find some way to get some of it onto FTP, the 3 and 6 dolla 90 mans KO turbos are also ATMs that you can access whenever there are donks on the internet. Like always. -
yeah just start out with like 2 tables of 25nl 6 max, and eventually get up to 4 tables and dont play more than 4
-
Lol pikapp,i honestly think i'd do better in that tourney, at least if someone calls you know they dont have a2 haha. If my stocks start rollin i might take a shot at that one day!

Sunday 500 obv

is stocks a new poker site?
-
j/k stay with the 4.40's they are easy money over long run..play more tag cause nobody folds
-
Mass multi table $10 DONs or play some $25 HU cash imo.
-
i would rather grind out the $7 turbo 180s than go completely fucking batshit insane trying to play $4 180s. your hourly rate will be higher. your roll is high enough for them. I might be a little biased since i hate non turbos.
-
I would stick to the 4.40's and small mtt's but occasionally take a shot at bigger ones. I have a similar roll as you due to a nice score. I know the sample size is way too small but I feel I'm playing well. In the 4.40's play tag til you get the goods then pounce as they usually call. I like mtt's but don't always have time for them so I do the 4.40's when mtt isn't available.

OBV it is +EV to play against calling stations, but it is very difficult to play against a table full of them. You have to run good to win, because bluffing is out of the question. But when you do make your hands you can get paid so nicely the way that good players will never, ever, ever pay you off.
According to the strictest bankroll requirements you are not rolled for 25nl, but since it probably wouldn't kill you if you went on a major downswing and lost your bankroll, I'm sure you could replace it fairly easily. If that is the case then I think 25nl games are pretty soft and VERY profitable, without nearly as much variance as MTT's.
I say multi table 25nl and grind up a nice bankroll. But be ready to deal with a table full of calling stations on a regular basis. If you can't be profitable against weak players, then you will never be profitable against strong players. I know you said it is "so frustrating" to deal with the calling stations, but guess what; poker at every level is a frustrating game. Successful players learn how to deal with frustration. -
either deposit another 250 and play the super tuesday, or grind 25NL
-
60's 9 man sngs
-
4.40s ftw!
-
2 tables of 2/4 NLHE HU full buyin.
-
LOL @ loading up your "stock account" with $800.
-
6 posts and thats the best you can do. I can see you're going to be a valuable addition to this forum. And i didn't say 'loading up' i said topping up. Every little helps.
-
800? If you are PardoG, then you buy in straight up to the sunday million, the 530 dollar one, then you sit down with the remaining 270 at one table of 2/4 NL and boom! There you go son! I haven't been break even for the past two years for nothing!
-
The $5 90 man on stars is a much better tourney than the 4.40 now that stars increased the levels of the 4.40 to 15 minutes.
The 4.40 takes too long to get to the bubble now. If you want 15 min. levels, play the 8$ 90 mans and get a 3k stack.
