    Did this guy do too much acid in the 70s or what?
    Im watching the 2005 USPC and I have seen him before but he is strange.
    Anyone ever play live with this guy?

    I believe he's just a very very smart guy. Almost too smart to fit into society as a normal person... which is pretty obvious.

    He FT'd a WPT event back in season 1 or 2. I believe he's a former math professor.

    ive played live with him before and hes a weirdo....also, he has the worst breath of anyone ive ever sat with...it smelled like someone ate a pound of beans then took a shit in his mouth

    I played live with him in aruba for the last 4 hours of day 1, mostannoying 4 hours of my life I will add.... No offense, but it'shard to study him, not easy to look at him while he's licking his noseevery 2 seconds..... And the quack quack is terrible, but hey itworks I guess.. He's won more than me live. I givethe guy alot of respect and credit though, he is a solid player.

    REAL STORY ON Magriel:

    On good authority, one of the ranked online players here played with Paul A LONG time ago! You know his name but I will not reveal it. Pauls nose is from to much cocaine back in the 60's or 70's. He did alot of coke and qualudes thus leading to his appearance. He was a top ranked backgammon player 30 years ago. My friend would only play him if he did a few qualudes first.

    Not passing judgement, just revealing some details. He is a talented poker player.

    I gotta be honest: I don't have a lot of experience with cocaine, but I do know there were thousands of athletes and entertainers that did mass quantities of it in the 70's and 80's, but none of them have that long flap of extra nose matter that X-22 does.

    Stu Ungar's nose looked far worse than Paul Magriel's nose......too much 'nose candy' for both of 'em.......a mal-formed nose is a 'tell'..........tells everyone 'nose candy' is ruining your life.....

    He's a former MIT math professor who invented many of the tools u guys use today to play +EV poker. As brilliant and as 'quacky' as you can get. He was working w computer tools in the 70's!

    He also wrote what many consider the consumate book on Backgammon in the 70's and was the #1 ranked player in the world many times.

    And he's got so many twitches and quirks that people who have played with him don't even bother to try and read him :=)

    Paul is a good example for you younguns who burn both ends (as i DID) to take note of.

    BEWARE THAT COULD BE YOU 30 YEARS FROM NOW.
