Ok Guys and Gals,I really need your help here
I need some list of things UB can do to make it a much better site.
This is our chance to really get our voice heard.
PLEASE only serious replys,I already know we will get some smart ass comments, but that wont help us.
I have a few Ideas like:
1. having set tourneys at set times every night for all level of players
2. have a sports book attached would be cool
3. maybe better kick backs to the players who play often
4. an 800# for customer service
5. chopping at final tables if all agree
6. more players allowed to watch the big game pros or final tables without room being too crowded
7. maybe use their pros to make a "tip" of the week or soming of the sort
These are just a few things off the top of my head,Ub does many things great like the best blind structures ,look at the other sites at final table ,then look at UB's.UB will have less players pot comitted and its not just an "all in fest".
Thanks in advance for all your imput, eeven if you are unsure if its a great idea or not, list it,who knows others might love it.
Thanks Shawn -
allow for more tables to be played at once?
-
Have heads up NLHE cash games at stakes greater than .25-.50. And yes, to answer UB customer services' form letter response, I am well aware that UB has heads up sngs, but cash games and sngs have a lot of differences to take into account! So implement these higher level tables already!
-
Change "bonus" dollars to "real" dollars. Have a nightly $20 or $30 rebuy tournament.
-
1. Allow Ultiimate Points earned from MTT and SNG tourneys to count for bonus dollar conversions.
2. More tourneys that pay money. Right now more than 1/2 of the schedule is sattelites. Keep the sats, but add some cash paying tourneys.
3. Better tourneys from 2 a.m. until 8 a.m. Geez, there is one $10 game in those 6 hours.
4. Bring back the $500 entry weekly tourney. Maybe even play it on Saturday. Saturday nights have a real bad schedule, so they lose the weekend player. -
Good idea sophiea about bringing back the $500 buyin on a Saturday. Only thing make sure its early enough for european's 3.30pm UB time would be great.
-
Definitely reinforce how cool the new added blind structures make the tournaments and that the current structure is awesome. There is tons of "play" throughout every tournament now even at FT.
How about a separate "box" observers can open and chat in while watching a FT. Would not be part of the playing screen but accessed by clicking an icon on screen and available off to the side for observers. This way it would not muckup the current area chat is in and be distracting for players at FT, the players would still have the same area they do now. The players could choose to open this additional box or not.
The biggest thing UB needs is tons of cheap satellites to its big tournaments. Every two hours they should have some sort of multi-table cheap satellites ($3, $5; some rebuys, some not). I mean they only need 40 players to make a $5 tourney non-rebuy work for the SUN200 and WED 200. They also can have some $20 satellites mixed in. Even taken as far as $1 satellites the night before each $100 nightly tournament. I just look at stars and how many entries they get into their big tournaments through satellites and my friends who like these Satellites say UB just does not run enough of them. They log-on, see if there are satellites, and then realize they just missed one or two and that there are no more for 8 hours, so they log-off.
UB should commit to making $100 tourney on Mon, tues, thursday a bigger event with satellites and better guarantees. It seems with satellites and promotions and guarantees that they could have a 40k $100 those three nights (they should commit to that for a month and see if they can get it there, but same guarantee every night even though they will get more play monday than thursday -none of this 40k for a week guarantee but get the word out it is 40k all the time by committing for a month) and $80k to $100k for Wednesday nite. With lots of satellites they will take much for their risk away on these.
Thanks for bringing the different p5's opinions to them. I am sure some good will come of it.
Actually that makes me think of one more idea. Have a monthly "appointment" with you to do what you are doing right now in regards to soliciting suggestions. -
I like the idea of having a time bank (like at stars) - but perhaps shorten the standard alloted time by 5 seconds -; most people prefer a brisk pace but sometimes there really is a tough decision to mull over.
Cut off the payouts in tournaments at a lower percentage of entries so that final tablers make more money. It irks me to see 50th pay x and 10th only about 2x. FT should pay significantly more money.
Reward tournament players better with Bonus points/conversion. Payout Ultimate Points based on finish (more for deeper, obv) - this will somewhat offset restricting the payouts to a lower percentage.
Loosen the purse strings and damn the torpedoes (er, overlays). Bigger guarentee/buy-in ratio. They can afford it.
And better tournaments during the day (bigger guarentees) - I would play more tournaments durning the day if the payout/buy-in was better; plus, they should attract more Europeans (or is there some sort of conflict within Excapsa?).
This will never happen but I'll mentiion it anyway: in cash games (especially NL) restrict the buy-in to NO LESS than half the maximum. OR provide a table at each level where ONLY maximum buy-in is allowed. At least give us a chance to escape/evade "min buy-in guy".
Thanks
one road -
WTM, all of these sound good. UB doesn't have enough player incentives to keep us there. I have written them numerous times suggesting cash rebuy tournies, and then when they ran them for a week it was a huge success. So you'd think they would have caught on huh? NOT
Lately i have ventured off to other sites because of the incentives offered.
Good thread

For UB to be run by a gaming commision that actually care went youve got a serious complaint to be made. I emaild the kanwachke (sp?) gaming commision 2 and a half days ago and i still havent had a response. Looks like UB are crooks, BEst thing i think UB can do is close down.
-
More PLO tourneys.
Less turbo tourneys.
Rebuy tourneys, both lower buy in (3, 5, 10) and higher (30, 50, 100).
More PLO tourneys
Don't decrease the number of satellites, but increase the number of cash tourneys.
More PLO tourneys. -

"Looks like UB are crooks, BEst thing i think UB can do is close down."
You're hilarious!!!! Its comical that you can refer to UB as a bunch of crooks, considering that you openly admitted to stealing from the site. -
Hey Shawn,
I appreciate the opportunity to give you some feed back on the following.
1) WPT / WSOP tournaments (The main tourneys)
2) WPT / WSOP smaller buy in tourneys
3) Bigger buy in online tourneys
4) Step sit and go's
1) WPT / WSOP tourneys (main events)
Right now the stuff out there in the poker world is just not getting it done.
I think the buy in should be a $1000.00 with MTT 100+9 tournaments as satellites into those. I.E. Players buy into a 100+9 super satellite with either cash or a TEC run the super satellite 6 days a week the seventh day is the $1000.00 satellite. Using very low numbers I figure 100 players per 100+9 satellite per day 9.5 players advance to the $1000 satellite per day. Leaving 57 players for the main satellite should pay out approx. 4.5 seats for the $10,000 buy in for the main event and $2500.00 for traveling money, lord only knows what would happen if the number of players increased it would be huge! I also think the current policy on not allowing multiple wins is for the birds. Let the players win multiple times and pay them the cash. I hear this stuff about money leaving the site bla, bla bla, so what. If your site is doing a better job than the rest nobody will go anywhere. ( F Beanie)
2) WPT / WSOP smaller buy in events Full Tilt has started this somewhat it just needs to be implemented for the WPT tourneys as well.
3) Bigger buy in online tourneys
A) The original Stone Cold Nuts on UB was an awesome idea. Why not run it once a month? Again letting players win multiple times in the satellites using the 100+9 MTT idea. I am sure a tourney like that would generate at least 400-500 people with a $2500.00 buy in is a million plus prize pool.
B) I also would like to see a $1000.00 weekly game (paradise has the nuts to do it, however the satellites are not good) That would be a huge draw. So what if it only had a 100 players in it. Which I do not think would be the case in the biggest stretch of the imagination.
4) Step sit and go's
I think party poker has created a monster with the step program! What an awesome idea especially for the pro players this would be one of their main source of income, however the blind structure there and the way players move up the steps is the pits. Let the top 3 advance to the next level. What would really be cool is to let the players use TEC's in the sit and go's as well. It would stimulate play and rake for the site.
I am sure this was probably asking your mother her opinion on something, you really didn't want all this but you did ask! I have such a passion for UB but over the last year I just have not played there much do to in my opinion poor decision making on their part. I have sent this to UB time and time again and all I get is the same response template back from them. Maybe this time they will listen.
Have a good one,
Trent -
Shawn,
I used to play 90% of my time at UB up until about 1 1/2 years ago. The main reason that I cut back my UB playing time back then was because I was not going to be able to go to Aruba that year, so I wasn't playing any of the Aruba sats. The two months leading up to the Aruba tourney, it seemed like every tourney was geared towards Aruba. Regular scheduled tourneys were being replaced by Aruba sats. I felt like UB was completely neglecting the non-Aruba players on their site. I was not going to be able to go this year either and the same thing happened - regular tourneys replaced by sats. Same thing happens with SCN, etc.
Things I would change (all reasonable requests IMHO):
1. When scheduling sats for Aruba and SCN, don't replace other tourneys will these sats or remove all higher buyin tourneys on the days of the sats. Simply add the sats to the schedule.
2. The Saturday night schedule has been very very weak. (I noticed there is a $109 tourney this Sat night) Keep the Saturday night $109 tourneys and have at least one tourney at each buyin range so that all levels of players will have access.
3. Change the bonus conversion system. I think it is ridiculous that the bonus dollars can only be converted by playing cash games. Look at pokerstars and Full Tilt - they both convert bonus dollars based on cash games and tourneys/SNGs. I still have a ridiculous amount of bonus dollars from the Aruba SNG promo that UB ran in 2004. They gave $1 bonus $ for every SNG entry fee leading up to the 04 Aruba tourney. They loaded all of the SNG players up with bonus $ without a reasonable means of converting the $$.
4. I liked the old KK $500 tourney - It was great. Bring it back!!
Hope UB listens to our comments and make changes accordingly.
cmitch -
1) Flexibility of Satellite entry chips (win an entry into a $200 event, you can unregister and play it whenever you want)
2) A weekly large buy-in event that has a set time $500 or more
3) A $10 or $20 rebuy satellite tournament for any event with an entry fee of $200 or more
4) A toll free customer service line
5) Offer an Aruba trip to the Monthly Tournament leader board winner? If repeat goes to second place
6) Allow multiple wins on all events upfront/basically don't alter the rules once initiated
7) Allow Bonus $ to be converted on any game where there is a rake or entry fee
8) Have the Pros play more at there tables so us low rollers can get some ez money (lol)
9) Satellites into all the WPT events/ would be a great thing for a UB qualifier to win another sites sponsored event!
10) Keep having the best player/software interface on the web!
Thanks WTM for the voice! -
1) Real money rebuys $3, $5, $10, $20, and $30 throughout the week
2) More types of sats ($20 freezeouts, $10 rebuys) for TECs and $200 tournies
3) Allow MTT's and SNG's to count towards bonus conversion
4) Enforce/facilitate chops
5) More tournaments with higher buys ins for games other than NLHE
6) 1-800-customer service
7) Quit making my KK run into AA. Please?
Lastly, don't worry about becoming the biggest. Focus on positioning UB as the site "where the best players play," "where skill counts," "where the tournaments aren't crapshoots," etc.
Good luck, Shawn! -
I play almost exculusivlely on UB and here are the things I would like to see change/improve.
1. Allow for chops
2. Better customer service (although it has gotten MUCH better, but usually you have to go to the management level to get a reasonable resolution)
3. 15-minue blind levels
4. CHANGE THE BONUS PROGRAM!!! I love UB, but they have hands down the worst bonus program I have ever seen. First, allow tourneys to count towards earning the bonus, second, you get one "ultimate point" per hour of play, but one ultimate point is only $1. So if you have 500 bonus dollars, you need to play 500 hours of raked hands??? Thats just obscene... -
i just read all the responses and it looks like the 2 biggest things that we can all agree w/ is:
1: Bigger Buy In Tournys
2: Tourny Pts to be counted towards bonus dollar conversation. -
hey shawn , couple of suggestions :
1) More trnys , but NOT turbos. Every damn trny is a turbo.
2) Rebuy trnys for cash ..... not just sats . And not just $30 rebuys , cheapies for us low-limit grinders.
3) The option to play a sat to a Sunday trny , and then un-register and use the TEC whenever you want to .
4) the option , when viewing cash tables, to see how much the players have in front of them without actually bringing up the table. ( ie: stars lobby ) -
The problem most sites face these days (whether they know it or not) is with luring in enough fish through advertising and enough pros through player incentives. If they advertise on t.v. the fish count will certainly jump, and they need to hit that hard enough to get UB some more fish. Once the fish are rolling in on a steady basis all they need is a solid player rewards program that everyone has access to and the pros will come running.
With too many solid players any fish who show up are busted very quickly and the fish count stays low. With a low fish count and an awful player rewards program the serious players have little reason to play at UB. The fish don't know about good blind structures, they just know about who shows them a commercial to get them on to the site.
Other things like different tourneys are nice, but getting rebuy tourneys is not going to solve UB's problem. Boost the fish count and make it worthwhile for the pros to come fishing there and I will come back. I hate to play there again after the pokershare debacle, but if they made themselves the most profitable site I would have no choice but to come running back.
A couple of examples are the Crypto sites (packed full of bonus whores and other pros) and party (a giant fish pond). Many of the crypto sites have it right with the player incentives, but that just brings in the bonus whores and grinders. Because of the lower fish count many of us working pros avoid Crypto like the plague. Party on the other hand has pretty average player incentives now that they have locked out the skins, but the fish count is so high that playing there is still very profitable.
When I was able to get some serious player incentives through Empire I generated almost 10k a month in rake for them, but as soon as Party dumped the skins and I couldn't get the same kind of incentives on Party themselves I switched to a different site and have not generated more than 1k a month in rake for Party ever since.
Right now there are awesome player incentives at Full Tilt and all the television advertising has brought in mass quantities of fish so they are growing fast and many of their players are people like me who generate mass quantities of rake. They would be a good example of how to do things well.
As one of the players who was really pissed off about the pokershare thing I can say that it would take an awful lot to bring me back. -
1) Store hand histories on our hard drive so that we don't have to use that stupid HH grabber for Pokertracker.
2) Tournament dollars, not TECs. Let people buy-in with any combination of tournament dollars and cash.
3) Offer the same SnG structures at every buy-in level (why are there no 10-seat $33 Turbo SnGs?). -
1) more low buy in tourneys in the 5-30 buck range that ARE NOT turbos. To many turbos.
2) Allow the satallite TEC to be used whenever you want so i can win 2 this week and use one this week and one next week for the 150k -
More types of tournaments...PLH in particular would make me happy.
More non-turbo tournaments. Half the tournaments i used to play became turbos.
More observors per table, especially for the big cash games.
Bonus point conversion for tournament play. -
1.bring back limit holdem sng's
2.4 way heads up sng's like on stars
3.lower buyin sng's for plo,7stud, hilo etc.. $1 & $5
4.STEPS<---(shoulda been #1 on my list)
5.heads up multi table tournaments
6.native english speakers on the customer service(it is awful dealing with their current staff)
7.bigger no limit tables like prima 100-200+ (people love to watch the big action tables)
8..05/.10 nl &pl HU $ tables
9.update and improve your site everyday to try and become the best, take these suggestions and use all of them that you possibly can..
10.800#<---PRIORITY
11.more television advertising to bring in new players -
The top of my UB wish list includes:
1. Ability to store hand histories to hard drive.
2. Allow chops.
3. Some variation of pokerstars' tournament dollars. If people can unregister from a tournament that they satellite into and use the money for another tournament many more people will play the sats.
4. Move the $150K Sunday night tourney back to 9 or 10 pm!!!!!!!
5. Increase the value of UB points when used to buy into tournaments. Again, take a look at Stars. -
1.I agree with Better customer service( just hire more/better people to handle the emails and speed up replys.
2.Have enough sitngos running where there are not waiting list/ It makes no sense for players to wait up to an hour to play a sitngo when 100 people are regestered to play. Ub is seriously losing money. When players are waiting to play they are not spending money. Also players will leave for other sites that have readily available sitngos/
3. I tend to go the other direction on buy ins. Have more $1, $2, $3 MTTs available throughout the day. In order for a site to grow you need to cater to the newbies. Most people dont want to learn and spend hundreds of dollarsa week starting out. While initially the rake will not be much for $1 tourneys you will gain a player base, and as players gain confidence they will move up in limits.
4. It really does make little sense to have pros playing on their own name on the site and only limited numbers of people can watch. Turn the chat off if you must be allow people to watch.
5. Jump the gun on pokerstars and have some large field sitngos at multiple buy ins. $1s through $50s. 150 to 200 players would be excellent. -
Shawn,
4 years of playing on UB, here's what i think:
1) Kickbacks for sure
2) not only 800# but better customer service, we all agree that their email responses are terrible.
3) chopping at a final table
4) better way to convert Bonus $$$, I liked the one guys reply of any fee, so if you play a $5+ .50 ($0.50 being the fee) to $100 + 9 SNGs, tournies or whatever, they should count towards the bonus $$$.
I also heard rumor (it may be true) that UB will hold $3 satellites for bigger tournies but in addition to winning your seat, if you make the final table or top 5 or something, you will get up to $100 Bonus converted to real cash. That would certainly juice up the satellites!! -
BIGGER OMAHA 8B TOURNYS.....800 NUMBER.....REBUYS ......CHOPPING ALLOWED
-
UB needs more satellites to the WSOP and WPT. I dont like playing on stars but in 2006 I am going to have in order to qualify for a WSOP 06 seat. Its must be embarrassing for them to only qualify like what 87 players to the wsop while poker stars sends over 1100. More Satellites!!
I hate that force to front thing. I hate typing in one window only to have the other window force its way to the front. Its a pain in the butt.
There Regular Satellites needs adjusting. I hate playing an hour and a half for 1 SNG. The Turbos are better but its still an all-in fest after a half hour. A Happy medium would be nice. I just switched to FTPs sngs because I like there structure better. SnGs end in an hour. A 1-table sng shouldnt last for over an hour IMO.
Marketing is right on in one of the above post. How can a top site only have 15 K in players while most of those players are playing at the free tables? More TV Commercials to bring in fresh players.
How about some loyalty for each year youre still playing there. On your anniversary date, you get a free entry into the $200+$15. As long as you meet the requirement of hours whatever that may be.
Player stats like they have on Cardplayer.com. I would love to look up a player like westtexasman for example and to see how he actually did throughout the year in tournaments.
I stats page on what hands are actually dealt on UB. So people can stop complaining about all the AA vs KK hands they see. I would also like to know if UB has more AA compared to 22. Would be quite funny if AA appeared on this site 5% of the time compared to 22 at 1%
Referral bonus STINKS!!!. Affiliate program does it work? Anyone making any more on the Affilaite program. You recommend someone to play here, they spend thousands on raked hands, do you actually get anything back. -
I know I my opinion doesn't matter that much But I left UB about 4 months ago before all the other things went down and it's real simple for me. They Absoultely have the worst CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!. I really hated how smug the customer service reps were and the customer service supervisors were even worse. Here's just one exsample of many, After years of running $1000s of dollars in and out of the site I couldnt take it anymore when I sigined up for a $5 dollar sat. Everyone was complaining about how slow the site was moving, ppl were having to log off and back on several times. After an hour and a half of this (which by the way was a rebuy) I just logged off I couldnt take it anymore not on a $5 satilite. when I emailed Ub about the problem they told me that it didnt happen, that" they pulled the archives" and no one was complaining it was just me. Now keep in mind I played all the larger tourney's $100 $50 ects. and the bigger limit cash games mostly $5/$10 . And they had the nerve to tell me I was making it up over $5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me? I took all my $ out and havent been back since I knew right then and there it was a company I could not deal with. I know it sounds petty but its about principle with me. I hated to leave cause the site is constructed so well but I havent missed it one day and if fact thinking about going dealing with ub again makes me feel sick. I'm prefectly happy with the other sites. email bodog or party or dice or stars about $5 and see what happens.
Anyway, Thats my take, I must go I'm feeling bitter, and thats just not my style.
sincerly
