Is anyone familiar with the process involved in moving to another country just to play online poker? Im finally good enough to win solid in cash and now this bullshit with full tilt yesterday and today. Can you get a work visa and legally play somewhere that online poker is legal and still keep your US citizenship, or would it still be considered illegal for me to play anywhere if I am US citizen? Any information would be helpful thank you.

when do we leave?

Pretty sure it's location not citizenship. Kinda like smoking weed in Amsterdam.

Are there any places you would particularly like to live in?

You can't really get a work visa, not having a job and all, if your only purpose is to play poker, but there are plenty of places you can stay and live fairly easily under certain conditions.
Some countries will simply require you to leave every 6 months for a little while, some countries allow you to stay if you have a "serious relationship" with someone
There are a lot of ways to stay places.
I'm actually working on a project in Panama and will be moving there in the next year or 2. (not to play poker, i'm just another little donkey) - pm me if you want info about Panama I can definitely help you out there. -
To move to any legit country you will need to line up a job in advance. By legit I mean New Zealand or Chile.

If ive read this right, you're definitely wrong.

I got a working visa for Australia for a year and a working visa for New Zealand for a year, but played poker full time online. -
Meh there hardly is a process - getting into and staying in the US for long periods of time = pretty tough. Getting out of the US = peazy. You could come and live in the UK with no trouble - i work with a lot of Polish guys who came here without a job lined up, and some of them only work part time.
And lol to you losing your citizenship - your country is insane but not quite at that level yet. -
You can easily move to another country but you'll still be expected to pay FICA tax to the IRS as far as i know.

Def this, I live outside the country and am a US citizen.. I have access to Neteller and can play on any site I want to.. I didn't move for poker, but enjoy the fringe benefit..

This is not true for US citizens.. Your buddies from Poland can come because they are part of the EU.. I lived in London for 3 years, and they were pretty strict about my visa.. Now because of all the UK stamps in my passport, I have to make sure I have my ticket out of the UK before hitting border patrol.. Also, you can't easily establish a bank account in the UK unless you have a job there or are a student.. No bank account = same issues as US with depositing and no visa or lease has issues with residency for registration on poker sites..

Yea you got a work-holiday visa but those are not permanent/long term visas, your only way to stay past that year would be to have an actual job that justifies a visa or a "serious relationship" i think
-
Another bonus is that if you live outside the US and are a legal resident of another country, you don't have to play taxes on the first (approx) 90k (figure changes every year) you earn, through the foreign earned income exclusion (Form 2155 iirc)...

Level?

How can you not know that Polish and UK citizens have the same employment and residency rights as each other in the UK. That (and Kolpak) is how we have almost no immigration control any more. Not that it is about the biggest political issue after the economy. -
QFT, my company wants me to go to Haiti for a year, and they said the first 80k was tax-free

Permanent residency is a whole different ballgame. They don't hand those out like candy unless you're a doctor or something but you can probably get a 2-3 year Visa in Aus/NZ no problem as long as you have x amount of $ in your bank account.

just come to the U.K. we give out houses and benefits like sweets. No work visa needed, no tax on winnings. Labour govt. doesn't give a fuck.....general election in may though, so could change, lol
