Are you joking? I guess you posted this because we both live in IL and you hope I play this way live?
Lol. I obviously called. And obviously my AK was beat by the J9 UTG shove.
I was down to 5bb because I'd been very card dead and also I had recently doubled up another P5r when his k2 beat my A9 bb vs sb.
Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to email him a link to this thread now -
Easy call

Never Even a question... why min cash... what a waste of time.
tell your Uncle to simply add up 10 min cashes and 1 win... Whichever is higher is the right decision!! -
insta snap call; high five monitor..errr..person to right and left of you
Only way I am ever folding here on the bubble is if it's a tournament where the buyin is thousands of $'s and even then it is not the right fold! -
lol.. I was amazed at him telling me this. He actually plays a fair amount(once a month) of high stakes cash poker with his country club friends. His line of thinking is "not putting myself at risk". But, I still LOL at that. Cmon. I agree with everyone who said, I shouldn't have gotten that low in the first place

When and where is this cash game, have you no tried to sneak in there and play...

Your uncle has to understand that a tournament is nothing like a cash game in the sense that once your stack is gone you can't just rebuy like in a cash game. There has to be a winner and there has to be a loser. Unluckily you got the latter but it is an easy shove. The only place that I may take a min cash by choice and fold AK is in something like the WSOP ME.
Does your uncle play under the sn DoNk3y F3st? -
here comes uncle joe
he's a movin' kinda slow
you are so wrong uncle joe, bitch at him for not open shoving any two cards somewhere between 10 bb and 5 bbs in the big blind w AK. -
maybe in a satty you could make a case for folding, but def not in this spot
-
wait im confused, a few good players like the lab rat (ranked 120th in the world) said to go allin, but then even better players like rob131986 (ranked 107th in the world) said to fold. i guess thats what makes poker so complex...so many different ways to play each hand and you can never really know which way was correct

maybe an icm expert could show if folding has a higher $ev than calling.

I am a nit and I would snap call here. The guy shoving utg has noticed u have been inactive and may believe that u r waiting for a min cash. The real problem is not this hand but the fact that u got to 5 BBs.

I assume this was not a Deep Stack Extravaganza event (ie $350 / $550 buy-in) but rather one of the regular $150 daily / evening tourneys.
Many times in these people do a bubble chop - ie just to get entry fee back and then play on as per usual w the reduced prizepool - so if the money means that much look at that option - then if u bust u have just spent x hours being entertained for nothing. I noticed in events at many of the Vegas Casinos including the Venetian that approaching the bubble there are often alot of shorties holding out 4 a min cash. I guess if this were the case and there were several other shorties who will b forced all-in this round AND if the cash meant something too u (in which case why enter if it was that important) then perhaps I can see where ur uncle may b coming from. As u have not advised where u sit wrt to other players at the table in terms of stacks can't answer this. If we r takling life changing $s etc then in Kill every1 it is suggested that a fold can b found even w AA (moreso in satties), but this tourney is not that situation imo
Irrespective u have made the right choice (to fold here would be throwing away huge EV - the guy shoving has given u another big advantage - he has protected u from a multi way pot so u r heads up). Just need to run better - welcome to my reality - bubble in the Venetian and deep stacks at Aria way too often (mind u usually cos I am trying to build my stack).
Good luck - in answer to ur question - SNAP - ALL IN. -
If it was the literal bubble where next out is bubble boy.. if there is any action on the other tables I'd tank call. No point in snapping faster than another possible bubble buster on the other table.
Use the time bank ;) -
Come on. I said please keep it clean. If he is retarded, he's retarded enough to make more $ then most of us in this thread

But, tournament pokerwise, he may be retarded
Reason: added tournament poker -
Well, if it's the true bubble the tournament is going to be playing hand-for-hand. No benefit to tank-calling.

Anyway, if I staked someone to play MTTs and later found out that they like to fold premium hands near the bubble in order to min-cash, that staking agreement would come to an end mighty quick. -
Getting worse hands than AK in here.

I think Rob was kidding or missread the question. If not, Rob, Please enlighten us with some details. Folding is beyond a nit move imho. You really should have been looking for a chance to get them in WAY before this. You have no fold equity so the difference between calling and betting have shrunk.
