  1. Hi! I currently am in need of a new monitor setup for poker. I am trying to decide between a 30 inch dell (3007wfp-hc) or two 24 inch dells (2407wfp). The prices are really close with the two dell 24 inchers costing $70 more than the dell 30 inch. The max resolution of the 30 inch screen is 2560 x 1600 and I know that one is able to have twelve full screen tables open at once with no overlap!! The max resolution for the 24 inchers is 1920 x 1200. I dont know how many tables one can fit on one of these at full size with no overlap. Anyone care to share? Also, the 24 inchers are able to be turned vertically into portrait mode while the dell 30 incher cant. Does anyone play with dell 24 inch widescreen turned vertically? Do you think having two dell 24inchers turned vertically would be better or more advantageous than the single dell 30 inch? I am using this setup almost exclusively for multitabling online poker and multitasking, not gaming. I realize that I need a dual-link dvi for the 30 incher or two ports for the dual 2407 setup. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

  4. The 24inch can only have 4 tables with no over lap. But with a little resizing, I can get 6 talbes of Omaha and still read the cards fine. ( I reduce them about 20% )

I accually never thought of rotating the screen.....Sure enough...It does. But my talbes are sideways...have to work on that!

    Good luck with your decision!
  5. re-sized i can fit 12 tables on my 24" widescreen no overlap

    not re-sized only 4

  6. Skoky,

I actually have two Dell 24s set up next to each other on the same desktop. I got them about 2 months ago. They are great monitors, good quality, and very sharp. I purchased them through Dell refurb, got 1 yr warranty, and they are fine, so that can save you decent $$ if you go that route.

4 tables fit without any overlap at regular size, so 2 screens obviously gives you 8. The problem with that is the amount of actual surface area you have to cover with your eyes is rather large. Depending on how deep your desk is and how far away from your face the monitor setups are you can find yourself literally turning your head side to side to read the action and act accordingly. It sounds cool at first but after 6 hours it gets tiring. You also wind up moving your mouse around quite a bit more, but changing the speed settings on that can resolve that mostly. Tilting the landscape is an interesting feature that I've experimented with but do not prefer over the regular horizontal layout. I used an NVIDIA Gforce graphics card with dual DVI outputs to run the monitors and was able to install it myself and am not very technically apt.

Multitasking is very easy on the screens because you have so much more surface area to work with. I've never seen the 30in used for poker so I can't comment on it. I would like to though as I think it might provide serious competition to the 2 24in setup. So I guess my final recomendation is, I like the 2 24inchers I have, but if you can fit the same amount of work on one 30incher it might be much easier to manage in real time. Also, buy em through refurb, they are considerably cheaper and probably even have some free shipping deals. They are fine.

Let me know what you choose and how you liked it. I hope this helps.
