  1. I think mine has to be getting away from top pair when I reraise preflop. Last night playing 2/3 live, sitting with a 600$ stack to the right of a couple very agro players. Limped from cutoff with kk, button raises to 15 like he does every hand he's on the button, bb reraises to 30, I take a moment and reraise to 100$. Button folds, bb takes a while and finally calls. Flop comes 10s8s3d, he checks I bet 150$, he takes a moment and pushes. I called after pretty much knowing he either had jj, qq, a10, or maybe 88 or 1010. He ended up having 88, and I lose a 1100$ pot. Is this ever a fold? What's your biggest leak?
  2. c betting and spewing oop toooo much
  3. motivation
  4. <h4><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr valign="middle"><td rowspan="2" align="left" valign="top"> </td><td colspan="2" align="left"><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td>Re:What is your biggest leak? </td><td align="right" valign="middle">In reply to </td></tr></tbody></table> </td></tr><tr><td align="left">By -BlackFours- on 09-02-2008 1:05 PM </td><td align="right">Reply Quote </td></tr></tbody></table> </h4> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr valign="top"><td><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%" height="100%"><tbody><tr><td>motivation

  5. -lack of focus
    -patience
    -playing OOP
  6. I think mine is crutial breakdowns late deep trying to make something happen when I know i can't.

I am highly motivated to play as much as possible i work 10 hr days and try to play for 6-8 a day on top of that and balance marriage and kids :)
  7. My biggest leak occurs when: I get dealt A-A-x-x in PLO. Then I put in a small bet. Then an ace comes of the otherwise rainbow + unconnected flop. I raise. The turn suits one of the community cards. I raise, someoen with the flushdraw comes over teh top, I call and the flush comes on the river. 5 times in a row this weekend.

Other leak in NLHE appears to be A-Q with a Q-x-x flop and always when I raise someone who just flopped a set comes over the top, I call and to the rails I go. Happened to me last 2 live tourneys I play.
  8. playin 25/50nl

  9. Not spending every waking moment either at the tables or studying.

Balance in life is hugely -EV imo.

  10. I wonder though, is lack of motivation really a "leak". You can always just play less. Really, there are very few people that would be much better off with playing more poker/not less (and, in fairness, with most recreational activities (even money making ones), if your not motivated, just do it less, it likely won't hurt you).

My biggest leak is really related to tilting. Just sitting there and taking beats, knowing I did the right move, but it's just worn on me. I played this weekend, actually had a very strong weekend (for me), got me back on the positive side since July, and yet, still went out of tournaments not winning some 80/20's (this weekend though, I had the luck of getting my money in horribly and sucking out (getting it in as an 80/20, but really, it was to my advantage to make the moves i did, just ran into the top of the range).

Luckily for me, I've been dealing with my tilt by avoiding the game for long stretches. That is much better than beating my head against the wall, losing money, and hating weekends.
  11. Right now volume, with school I am just unable to play the amount of MTTs that I want. I really feel my game has evolved and my post flop play has improved 10 fold over the last 6 months by putting in a lot of cash game hands but I just cant dedicate 5+ hours more than 2 days a week to MTTs and it makes me sad all day.

I will also say closing, I think this stems from just not having enough experience but everytime I do make it to the final 2 tables, I make some really stupid plays.

I dont tilt, I feel I have developed a good(still feel it could use some work) controlled aggressive mid to late game strategy but I feel volume and closing are holding me back.

Not knowing my biggest leak is my biggest leak.

  13. Playing too much/long. I'll put in a bunch of time and make some profit but think, well I could make even more with another hour... hour later, profit gone, tilt coming.
  14. I definately have many -

    Game selection
    lack of focus
    BvB play is terrible
I definately don't review sessions enough either.
I wish I knew all of the others.
  15. Probably when I'm tight, I'm too tight and when I'm loose, I'm too loose.

I think the biggest leak I developed (but plugged) was not giving a player credit for a hand.
  16. biggest leak is thinking i dont have any

No. You have 250/600 in the middle with a big overpair pair against an aggressive opponent. You should be delighted to get the rest of your stack in there. (Fwiw I'd include AA in the bb's preflop range, as well as some overcard/draw combos).

My biggest leak is impatience in the middle/late stages of tournaments.
  18. not winning
  19. I'm with Admiral. Being back in school, I can't play NEARLY as much as I could this summer. It's frustrating because I've had the best 4 months of poker over summer than I ever have, and I know I'm only getting better. At the same time though, it's less stressful and my gut is getting smaller walking to class.

And I need to raise Ax more when it is folded to me in the sb. :)

  20. My biggest leak, far and away, is getting pissed, and going to cash games to tilt off most of my roll.

I've built some nice rolls (from a micro stand point of course), then go on a downswing.

I deny the feelings inside of me about the downswing, and then something just pops, and it's the last straw.

I go to a cash table that I don't belong at, and usually lose at least 80% - 100% of my entire roll. Again, it's not a huge roll, but still.

If I weren't allowed at cash tables, I'd be rolled for at least two to four levels above what I play right now. Of course, there exists the possibility that I'd find a different way to tilt off my roll (e.g. registering for 10 strait 109 SnGs and going all in on every hand in each or something).
  21. Went to visit My freind in spain this weekend with Wife and family.....First night after beerfest, I transfer $1k of my Ft balance (2k) to his and we play 25/50 on ft with 2k ...up to 9k and then lose it in about 5 hands.....I will be haunted by it for years to come.
  22. mine is prob going on autopilot too much in the early-mid levels of tourneys
  23. Mine comes after the fouth shot and eighth beer of the night
  24. Tiltboxing is def up there on my list.
  25. taking unneeded risks
  26. Not thinking clearly with a completely open mind. Being too negative and not playing my A game.

This - except mine's not plugged.

And not getting away from TPTK when straight/flush draws are staring me in my stupid donkey face!
  29. yep, not knowing my leaks is my leak! i have to get a program or a tutor or something that studies my game to show me where i'm going wrong in my game. some people were criticizing my flat calls in the BB with odds plays, so maybe i'll look into that.
  30. My biggest leak is feeling that I can push people off a hand when it's blatantly obvious it's not going to happen.
