  1. Now i'm not saying I have great stats (because I don't), but when a bad player with bad stats trys to start trashing my game. I have every right to bring up their stats. I don't know of anyone who straight up looks up everyones stats at their table and attacks them without being provoked first. The people who are complaining that they are getting harassed are the ones who start talking in the first place.

That message on OPR just made me chuckle and I thought i'd share it with everyone.
  2. Its because you never sign or agree to anything that says OPR can just post your financial information out there like its public information. Its private personal info and they just post it without players consent. Some ppl obv become offended and have complained

  3. telling people how bad they are/ how much they have lost is probably one of the dumbest things you can do at a table... no matter the circumstances.

  4. Great well your need to trash a bad player's stats is going to force pokerstars to find a way to block websites like OPR from mining their data because they don't like players berating other players. That will then lead to the loss of such websites for everyone, including me.

Chuckle all you want, just don't be a freaking idiot and do something stupid that will lead to screwing it up for everyone.

Yep.. and if stars bans it gg visitors and gg money for OPR.
  6. Idiots at my tables are constantly siting other players OPR and sharkcsope stats. Usually idiots that think it's +EV to chew out donkeys. And they usually do it without any provocation. I wish all the sites would have that silly little message, and not only that I wish they would chat ban the idiots that talk about stats at the table.
  7. it should be like thepokerdb does where you have to pay a fee to see profit numbers and other information. People that are willing to pay for that information are ppl intelligent enough to understand that information is private and shouldnt be spewed all over a chat box.

  8. its because opr knows that if people didnt always blast others in the chat saying 'opr says youre a donk and only have 2 cashes lifetime', then stars probably woulda just turned a blind eye to sites like this. yes, im sure maybe stars would somehow like to make money off of these sites, but i think at the same time they are very aware that data mining, and results do way more harm than good for the growth of the game and keeping weak players playing.

so that being said, im sure when stars contacted opr about this issue, berating player sin the chat about their opr stats was probably one of pokerstars' concerns
  9. Yeah I don't condone idiots who look up stats to rip up donkeys without being spoken to first or provoked w.e. my problem is the donks who will try to tell you that you suck, when their stats prove otherwise. More often then not i'll just say "lol" when someone says something to me.

  10. I've had a couple of people berate me for being a losing player in SNGs on stars when they obviously haven't even looked at my stats
  11. Dont tap the glass.
  12. When they trash your game, there's no need to attack back! Treat the bad player like your greatest customer. If your greatest customer is unhappy, then don't exasperate the situation.

Remember that most of your poker income is not gained by your own greatness, but rather the ineptitude of others.

If they think you suck, that's great! If only I had a dollar for every time I was called a donkey.... oh wait. I do!

  16. I'm with the OP. If some donk luck box is criticizing your play, when they are the one that really sucks, I don't see any problem with firing their stats back in their face. I've done it a few times against players that were getting cocky against me because they won a big pot from me in a ring game when it was obvious it wasn't their superior play but just luck that picked up the pot.

" Wow, 257 tournies and your biggest cash is $28, roi -60% itm 9%, how do you live with that".

Keep hammering them with their pathetic stats and boom they go on tilt and in no time you can stack them. Seriously is this any worse than following the advice of pros like Gank, who feel slow rolling opponents to get an edge is perfectly acceptable.

Sorry but stats are available on everyone who plays a professional sport or amateur for that matter, if pokerstars cuts off OPR because some people use the stats against opponents they have some serious issues.

As far as I'm concerned, if you are going to run your mouth about how good you are, then make sure your stats can back it up.

    your an idiot

Now Now, lets not say anything to idiots for their opinions or how they play poker. Just let them go about their business and ignore them.
  23. everything Jenn said!

I like to say things such as 'very well played!' after guy calls off half stack on turn with gutter ball and gets there on the rvr to my top set.
  24. This used to be a very bad habit of mine. Thankfully I realized how idiotic it is. If the player is a big time losing player, why would you EVER want to make fun of him so maybe he tries to improve his game or just quits depositing altogether?

IMO, if you feel the need to bring up a losing players stats and rub their nose in it, you probably aren't much of a winning player yourself, if at all.

To be fair to the OP, he said he only fires stats in another players face when they start trash talking at him about his play. I agree with him.

If someone makes a dumb play and gets lucky so be it, it happens several times a day and you just have to deal with it, no need to get nasty, but if he starts to criticize your game when he obviously won the hand because of luck you can choose to ignore it, or you can throw his crappy stats in his face. Personally I don't like to let him get the last word or think he has a psychological edge on me.Guaranteed he won't be so smug when you out him to the whole table and he will start steaming. Of course any player who is any good at all will already know he sucks because of his crappy play but the idiot won't realize this, he thinks his play was brilliant. Now that you have exposed him though he will be seething and looking to get even and will try to look you up every chance he gets, which is what you want.

Berating a bad player who doesn't say anything is counterproductive. They either will leave the game or tighten up and play better. But, the big mouth is different, he has an ego problem and isn't apt to leave the game right away because you shamed him or adjust his play. He is out to prove he isn't as bad as you say he is and is likely going to stick around to try and get back at you. With a bit of patience you should be able to bust him.

Why? If you were playing in a baseball or hockey league these statistics would be available, why should poker be any different. You do have the option of hiding your stats if you so desire.

To be realistic, in the vast majority of cases where someone responds to a player talking trash, the only thing at stake is ego. These aren't carefully calculated attempts to make a player play worse against you; they're hot-headed responses to insults that you should be able to ignore... Who cares what some random donkey at your table thinks about how you played a hand? Just turn off chat if it really gets to you. That's a much better solution than going and looking at some 3rd party stat tracker and then going back to the table and mouthing off about how much money the guy has lost.

The problem is really that so many people playing poker online simply do not have the maturity to view stats like OPR without using them as a way to self-aggrandize and try to belittle other people. OP's post in this case, unfortunately, highlights one of the things I dislike most about playing online poker these days and the primary reason that I keep chat off when I play. If there's one thing that really tilts me, it's some jackass at my table who won't shut up about how bad one of our other opponents is...

  29. Well stated Jenn. It's 'exacerbate' though!

ppl dont get paid to play poker (minus a few site pros) like they do in hockey and baseball where stats are kept mainly to evaluate players performance and their worth in salaries. this is a game played mainly for leisure by probably 95%+ of the players on the sites, not paid professionals, imo it just shouldnt be free for the whole world to access somebodys personal financial information who isnt some kind of paid professional who is there because its their job (athletes and CEO's etc etc). I just dont understand why these sites are free...
