What's up everyone. I found out from a mutual friend of myself and Punnisher that there was a discussion of my abilities (or lack thereof) going on here at pocket fives. My job with cardplayer is to give the content that YOU all want to see and hear. I wanted to give an email address for people to use to give me comments and suggestions on the air, but the powers that be told me no. so i'm doin it anyway, just not on the air. I appreciate all your comments, even the ones that talk smack. But if you must talk it, at least make it constructive, like codewizard's "enunciate, breathe and slow down". I can use that. I agree with you all that I was a bit nervous, but you imagine having to swallow your star-struckedness the first time you meet some of the biggest names in the poker world AS you were about to interview them in front of the world. No easy task. I do appreciate the positive words...thanks PUNNISHER (p.s. you're still whipped..haha), suitedcrabs and beanie.
SO, if anyone has comments or suggestions, please email to thatreporterguy@hotmail.com. Thanks for your time and take it easy on the new guy...

Yeah right. I'm willing to bet this guy's a fake just looking for attention.
-
Hey Rich, here is some constructive criticizm...I think your interview with Matisow was your best yet. Its clear that you were a little nervous in the beginning and that you have clearly gotten better. I am a little suprized that card player hired someone who wasnt "prefect from the start", but Im sure you'll continue to get better. Just stay away from the Norman Chad/Mike Sexton cliche phrases and youll be just fine...haha! Thanks for the great reporting, and if no one else will admit it, I will...Im jelious...I WISH I had your job...good luck and keep up to good work!!
-
Hey man,
If it's really you, I thought you did an excellent job. In fact after reading the aforementioed smack, I went to watch for the first time and expected much worse. You're personable, down-to-earth and you think well on your feet. Interviewing (and being interviewed) are much harder than they appear to be. By the way, thanks for "introducing" me to Liz Lieu; I think I'm in love...and the Matasow rant was claaaaasssic:) Keep up the good work and I like the fact you're open to constructive criticism.

I assure you this is no fake..i'll prove it to you..in my first piece of today give me a (feasible) phrase to work into my intro. It is me guys, i promise you
-
ps i know the name is herbish, but I doing this as i'm running around getting content idea for the day...forgive the name...but give me the phrase for the intro
-
how about "...it's no joke."
-
Ask any player u interview if they know what "Ownage to the Bonage " means .
Then and onlt then will your story be believed. :)
GL with the interviews and all that. -
I can't plug websites that don't advertise with cardplayer...big nono unfortunately...any other suggestions?
-
OK the phrase will be "it's no joke" look for it in about an hour...i'll be back on here later this afternoon
-
"and were back" with the wink please!
-
THE PHRASE IS "IT'S NO JOKE". After i "prove myself" i'd like to keep open communication..use my email address thatreporterguy@hotmail.com.
-
Wait so your'e telling me your'e a professional reporter but you need help from posters on a website? sounds fishy....Hope your boss isn't paying you alot.
-
Agreed, Cal.
-
i think you do a great job and i love your broadcasts and watch every single one. keep up the good work
-
Hey Rich, I love the content...certainly you aren't flawless but it's all good and I won't go into that. Just two suggestions for content ideas: Continually cover the Negreanu vs. Greenstein match, as well as keep following Phil Hellmuth around! His interviews are hilarious. Keep up the good work.
-
Thanks cal- that's exactly what i'm trying to do...like i said, you guys (and people like you around the world) are my audience and I want to bring you things you're interested in... The intro should be up in a half hour with the "it's no joke" phrase. Thanks Spoilah...I plan on following the Negreanu-Greenstein battle to its completion and beyond...those interviews have cause a bit of a stir here at the series among the pros, and I trying to figure the best way to report it...Negreanu already told me he wants another interview to counter what Greensteind said...should be interesting
-
As the creator of the first thread, I should probably post here. I will admit, that from an objective viewpoint I found the reports a little annoying in the beginning as you seemed like you were a little too excited when giving interviews. But I also didn't know it was your first time ever doing something like this. You have definitely improved a lot from the first reports and for a total beginner to this, you are doing a great job. No disrespect intended from my post, just posted what I thought about the reports without any knowledge of your background or anything else. Keep it up.
Also, Marcel Luske would make for a great interview I think. I would love to see it. -
Thanks Zarf..no disrespect taken; I'm glad you started the thread that lead to me being able to communicate with you guys. I appreciate the encouragement and hopefully will continue to improve. Marcel is on my 'to-interview' list, especially to talk about is IPF project. He is constantly swarmed by fans and media and I hate approaching them after they've been mobbed like that. Look for that interview sometime in the next couple weeks. ALSO the intro piece with with the "It's no Joke" phrase has just been sent to our editor and should be up in minutes (for those that still doubt my identity)
-
OK, our editor is a little slow right now, but keep checkin the site for the intro, followed by an interview with David Williams. Thanks again for your comments and keep em comin...also don't forget my email thatreporterguy@hotmail.com

hey bro, i am reporting each day for my site (pokertrails.com) and i've watched most of your stuff so far.
first off, i am NOT a camera person, so even though i don't think you're the best in the world at what you do (or even very good at all), i can't really say that i could do a damn bit better man! it's a tough business.
you're getting better for sure. i think the one thing i recommend is slowing your speech, and maybe just tell yourself that the person is another person, because they really are. the first time i played a big main event, i was star struck too, but soon realized that they're just regular dudes. not even movie stars.
if you just realize that these guys are just gamblers who were suddenly thrust into the limelight by TV, you'll realize that they're all genuinely nice people and very easy to get along with. i've met very few professional players who are dicks. maybe try hanging out with one off camera for a bit and relax a bit more and you'll do fine.
