  1. Some guy asked how the play at the table was (he was moved to us) and jE said...

jE 303: pretty loose too. avg vpip is like 45
    doomed222: whats vpip?
    khamkham: yeah
jE 303: lol ur obviously doomed if u don't know that
    khamkham: what is vpip

    anyone?

Maybe it's common knowledge, but I've never heard it used before.
  2. I think it means volentary money put in preflop. And 45 is very loose. This excludes blinds but I believe it includes anything else including limping, could be wrong.
  3. tiltin is right...

around 20 for tag's... 30-40 for lags... anything higher is just a spewtard
  4. yes, $ voluntarily put in pot
  5. any call or raise preflop is included in VPIP%, and yes 45% is extremely loose.

  6. i've also heard the term 1000 times but as i don't have PT i never really put much stock into the exact definition. after investing in a training website there is discussion over VPIP all the time so i'm curious as to exactly what it is... is it money voluntarily put into the pot in relation to HANDS YOU PLAY or relative to overall money put into pots at the table? or am i just compeltely off base here?
  7. its % of times you voluntarily put ANY money in the pot. 40% would be you contributing money to 40% of hands youre dealt into.
  8. oooooh ok, thanks for the clarification!

so someone with a $VPIP of 40 and AF of 8 or so would be considered a loose calling station essentially? (im talking about overall, i know there are slight exceptions)
  9. I want to play against that guy!
  10. AF of 8 would be very aggressive. So probably not likely to be a calling station, but loose for sure.
  11. Thanks

He actually gave me the first word and I figured it out in about 2 seconds but I had already posted lol

He's talking about stoxpoker and says its the best site for coaching/forum...
