  1. Late in MTT's or SnG's i will try to buy the blinds to increase my chip stack. If i am called i will then try to buy the pot after the flop. How much should you bet here, and if called should you stop bluffing or take another stab at it. Do you select the size of your bet by the pot size or your oppenents chip stack.

    Rock
  2. Unfortunately, this is not a cut-and-dry question. Bluffing is obviously a huge part of this game (certainly a huge part of MY game), and late in a SnG or a MTT, I find it amazing that anyone thinks it's possible to survive otherwise.

There are so many different ways of bluffing, you should never live by one method. Bet hard on the flop, the turn, AND the river. Check call the flop and the turn, take a big stab on the river. Limp preflop, over-bet the pot on the flop.

Don't ever fall into the habit of always taking a stab preflop and trying to take another stab postflop. This move has it's place, certainly, but IT'S NOT YOUR ONLY MOVE.

That being said, you DO have to know when to shut down. This, in fact, may be more important than bluffing itself, and this is what makes poker such an interesting game. You absolutely must play your opponents, remember their actions, and forget all about your cards.

If you know someone is a calling station and has a difficult time even laying down mid pair, shut down immediately. Don't even take a stab on the flop. Just concede that he called you preflop and be done with the hand. If you know someone is playing scared and is willing to lay down two pair to a scary board, push it the whole way. Also remember the good players at your table are paying attention to how you play. If you've been stealing lots of hands, be more hesitant about investing a large amount of money trying to steal a flop from that keen observer. Put out a small feeler bet and shut down if he raises or calls you.

So, in short, there are all sorts of answers to your question. Bet min, bet pot, bet according to your stack, bet according to your opponent's stack. Shut down immediately, never shut down. Play your players and VARY your play.

    Don't fall into pattern play.

  4. Simple rule. Keep bluffing until they fold or you run out of chips.
