  1. 30k Guaranteed. Upon realizing that the final 2 tables were filled with inexperienced timid players I began to play very aggresively. This strategy got me to the final 4. At this point I'm second in chips but still stealing blinds right and left. We don't see a flop for about 20 hands between me stealing and them raising one another. I pick up pocket 3's in the small blind (blinds 8k, 16k) and i have about 350,000 in chips. I raise 50,000 into the big blind when everyone folds behind me (we are about even chip stacks). He calls me for the first time (he however has been the only player playing back at me the whole final table). The flop comes k k 6 (no draws). I bet 40k into the 100k pot. He immediatly doubles, almost so fast it doesn't even seem as though he time to think about his hand. I think and call thinking perhaps hes on a bluff. The turn brings a 9. I check he checks behind me. The river brings a 10. Im confused now. Im wondering if he bluffed the flop and didn't have the nuts to fire on the turn (perhaps thinking I had the king) or if he slow played the king. After everything I'm left 180k in chips and the pot is 260k. I decided that he was bluffing based upon his quick raise on the flop but I knew if he was bluffing before then if i checked to him here he would most likely put a bet in two big for me to call wether he had anything or not. I decided to fire 80k (little less then half my stack) in attempt to represent the K and possibly take him off the 6 if he had that and also to take the move away from him so he couldn't beat me out by putting a big bet in. He just calls and shows K 4 (trip kings).

I wondering at what point I should have gotten away from this hand. Looking back I believe it was the double on flop but I'm unsure because he had played back at me before and I thought he was trying to make a timid attempt at stopping me from raisng his blind repeadtly by just calling and doubling on flop (as if this game plan to do so was preconvieved before the hand even started).

I think one big deciding factor to not play back at him was the fact that it was a marginal decision. And the fact that they were handing me there blinds should have been a deciding factor.

    What do you guys think?
  2. I think you have to go with your read that was along the lines "he didn't even have time to think about his hand". Most of the time when I see this and show-down, they had a solid hand on the flop.

All in all though, consider his min-raise a feeler bet. He's trying to figure out if he's good or not. If he has a hand that merits gaining information, you're probably beat. I think I can lay down 33 on the flop after his min-raise...probably a pretty tight, maybe even weak, play though.

    What's the buy-in to the 30K?
  3. I think you are correct....I think he planned on re-raising your continuation bet no matter what....It just so happened that he flopped a set....It's a tough hand to get away from in this situation. However, upon not improving your own hand, might have been better off just check/folding to any more of his bets after the "fishy" check on the turn.
