MarkFsu is right. There is a time limit though I want to say it's 5 years and you have to become a citizen of that country also.
If OP is planning on moving back to the U.S. he will be on the hook for all the income tax.
I think the UK has not tax on poker but I could be wrong there.
Las Vegas has no state income tax if I am not mistaken... -
In Canada, I'm pretty sure they changed it. If you have a reasonable belief of profit you have to pay taxes. So if you quit your job to play poker, they are going to assume you think you can profit. But if you hate supporting your country and their troops by all means dodge your civic duty. It's not like you use the roads or expect the police to come to your aid.

Well i have lived here in sweden for 2 years and did my usa income tax every year w/ my zero earnings from USA and ofc bc i didnt earn anything i didnt have to pay anything. I had the option to give money for social security but i didnt since i will be living in sweden most my life.. (atleast thats the plan lol) Doesnt matter what you are doing whether its a 9-5 job or online poker, ur income tax is relegated to where u have a residency and my residency is in Sweden.

pretty sure taxes pay alot more than you think. Not that i am hating your comment, it is rediculous that they get away with that chit but as far as all the roads and stuff....yea taxes pay it

I love this post...couldn't you just be honest and say, "Now that I have grown up in a country that has provided walls around me to feel safe at night when I sleep; provided me with an education to go as far as I can in life; given me the freedom to think, say, and be anyone I want to be; that has taught me this incredible, captivating, "American" bread game; please now teach me how to avoid paying income taxes because I have no desire to give the next guy the same opportunities that I had!"
-
Agreed.. if the government wants 100 percent of my income its for the greater good and I know that they can manage my money better then I can.. plus it goes for giving others a great opportunity to live the American dream.

I would hate to see the actual amount of money wasted from stupid choices
But all in all I agree. Your American Do Your Part. Its not like that askin for half your income or anything (yeah ex...go to hell) -
You must be REALLY bad at managing money imo.
-
You have got to be kidding me. Roughly 50% of federal income in the US comes from personal income tax. You honestly think that none of that is used in ways that contribute to your individual wellbeing? Way to take ignorance to a new level.

I'm pretty sure dsooted was being sarcastic. (at least I certainly hope so)

Good times! :) There's definitely a cost of living bonus for living here in Mexico (if you stay away from the tourist areas). Honestly I'm very surprised more online poker players haven't relocated to Latin America. The weather is generally nice in a lot of places, goods are cheap, the people are generally pleasant, etc. I've lived here in Mexico City for the past 12 years (population ~20 million) and have never had a major issue.

Would be cool if you wrote up a nice long article on this. I'm sure a lot of people here, including myself, would love to read about it.
