Cant rem all the details but i do know we were pretty deep and villain had been active flatting and winning w/o showdown. So my thought process was hes def firing if checked to, so i elected to check raise. the board was pretty scary and i wanted to end the hand right here. should i be check calling all non harmful streets, bet/calling, or check raising like i did? I've got tptk w re draw in case..o shit forgot about bet fold..maybe thats the best option?

I think part of the problem with your check raise all in is that the only real benefit is driving drawing hands out of the pot, and the downside is that you will only be called by a better hand, including both AQ and AJ which you normally would get a lot of value out of. A lot of it comes down to your read on the opponent. I would personally lead out at the flop, since I would feel that I have the best hand and don't want to give a free card. If I am raised, then I would have to go with my read based on bet sizing and history. The real problem with AK on this flop is that you are losing to both AQ and AJ, which really polarizes your opponents range to bluffs, and better hands when he re-raises the flop. If I felt the player was bluffing, I would be tempted to just reshove, but if I really felt he was weak I would just smooth call it and slowplay. I think check calling on this flop would be pretty bad, since you are just setting yourself up to get outplayed, but the one upside is that if the turn and river are super scary you can get away from the hand.
If you check raise all in, then you have no information at all; if you instead lead out, then you can make a read on the opponent based on their action. By leading out you put more hands in your opponents range (as opposed to his bet/call shove range), making your play potentially more profitable than just picking off a loose bet on the flop, and at the same time give yourself a chance to get away from the hand if you somehow become convinced you are beat. -
I didnt see him get all his chips...I dont think i ever saw him 3 bet. I saw him flat opens in mid pos like this and twice i saw his opponents check fold. when oop.

Lead this flop for ~7-9k make your next decision based on reads imo.

Not a bad flop to check behind... I would prefer to polarize my betting range in this spot to AQ+ and airy type hands that easily fold to a check/raise.
There is an argument to betting as you can get value from hands like KQ, QT, TT, KK, AT, JT. But it sucks to bet/fold top-top, and it's probably better than bet/calling off your stack. -
I always here people talk about better spots and i never really understand what they mean. There was like 35 people left and you are either owning with a big stack or your treding looking for AK and a coin. sure i could find a nice 3 bet steal spot or wake up with AA vs KK...but this one just seems like a spot I had to go with becuase of all the hands he could be betting with. i dunno. thanks for responses.
oh also he had AhJd fwiw -
change slightly to really/very and /thread....
jk but obv never check/jam here as u do nothing but fold out those that ur ahead of and u get snapped off drawing very thin. i bet/fold here most of the time here -
lead fold imo- i feel like check shipping is almost turning ur hand into a bluff on this board
