  1. Why Is Bodog So Dead??

Is it because of the software, is it because they have a casino linked to the poker room, is it bad management, or what?
  2. nothen new, sites been dead for years

  4. I didnt know Bodog still had a pokerroom anymore. Thought it was just a sportsbook and shit now.
  5. Recent poker room changes (reduced Guarantees, massively extended late reg periods, poor tourny rank reporting, eliminated leaderboard, unreported ticket winnings (as opposed to T$), etc.) and arguably the worst customer service in the world, have led many players to leave entirely, or at least spend a fair bit of their play elsewhere.

This is why the tournament players left. The tournament players leaving are why the cash games died. :)
  8. UIGEA and clueless dipshits in management
  9. Calvin left

As a longtime bodog player, Aupoker1, you may be recalling the CS of the past (which I too remember as being pretty good). However, the current customer services reps barely know what poker is. They seldom, if ever, can explain any of the site's oddities, because they literally DO NOT know how it works. What's worse, they have scripted answers that they all dole out, which anyone who knows anything about the site's functionality could tell you is wrong. If you want an example, ask any of the bodog CS reps to explain this: "Let's say I bust someone out of a tournament (taking all his chips and eliminating him); then 30 minutes later I bust out. How is it possible that the guy I took out, is ranked higher than me in the tourney?" You'll get a collection of similar (but completely erroneous and dumbfounding) answers, that have been scripted for the poorly informed CS reps. This is just one of many examples of how the once acceptable customer service is now horrible.
  11. It's actually decent for the $10-$20 casual MTT players - small fields (usually less than 4 hours for a non-turbo). It's the only site that regularly has overlays.

    BUT

there are numerous reasons that people don't play there, and it really differs for each person

    clunky software/lobby
can't play more than 4 tables
    no/low guarantees
    no player to player transfers
lack of "keeping up with the Joneses" (they were positioned for #3 poker site when partypoker left the US, but after Calvin left, they just treaded water and everyone else caught up/passed them).

Actually- Calvin calling out the US DOJ to come after them was the beginning of the downfall IMO. That lead to the processor busts, the difficulties with cashouts that went way beyond industry norms at the time and the subsequent start of the decline.

    F calvin IMO.

  13. dont they charge ~$50 for a check cashout???
  14. You can still make money there is you grind a guess is it would be the approx equivalent of 3 small town paper routes.

  17. Good sportsbook at least.
  18. some sick sportsbook promos too...gave me a free $50 bet, $250 for betting every NFL week, and doing a jackpot for 10 team parlays

  20. no cards work there anymore and minimum for bankwire is 1k lol...I called to make a deposit they asked me all this information then gave me an email address lol
  21. my card works fine there, and checks are usually here in 3 days which is the same amount of time bankwires from FTP and PS take for me.

  22. I was using the ideal gift cards and they stopped working...i called to make a deposit for bankwire which the minimum is 1k and got redirected to an email... not easy to deposit but love the site lol

It's funny that you think that 'Calvin' leaving has anything to do with the low volume.

  24. actually, the beginning of the end for them was when some other site sued them and temporarily the www.bodog.com name was confiscated from them. they subsequently went to bodoglife.com and newbodog.com for quite some time before they got their name back. when it came back, it was a shell of its former self.
  25. Would be a great time for Bodog Poker to move up by spending some cash with some unusual/new promotions to draw new players, and also open up as many avenues as possible to deposit and w/d. As mentioned above Player to Player transfers would also help them out as players could transfer money between sites more easily (and since there is more money outside of Bodog than inside, it could only help). P2P does create more headaches for the site, but is a necessary evil if you want to compete in todays environment. So many poker sites are just letting pokerstars and Full Tilt run away with the vast majority of the North American Market.

Another thing---Bodog has almost zero ongoing/monthly promotions compared to the other poker sites.

It is like they are just coasting along on what was started until it all runs out. Shame as it had good potential from the start. Possibly they do so well on the sportsbook side they could care less bout the Poker.

From what I see the name still has good Brand value and hasn't been ruined....Hope they get the poker room back full of the famous Bodog Fish
