I like to watch them play as well. Who knows, maybe I can learn something. But what makes people think that these guys want to answer their trivial questions while playing for big bucks?? Then they even have the stones to call them names when they don't respond. I lose more faith in the human race every day.
***I bet they are the same fools that collect autographs*** -
When I first ran into gank, I remember I asked him a few questions... he was very cordial, and then gave me his e-mail address. He responded to both my e-mails... and now when I'm watching him play I just say gl and nice hand.
I think the celebrity appeal wears off very quickly. Usually after you ask them a few questions, people are satisifed and move on. The only problem is for a player like Raymer or Moneymaker... that are so incredibly well known that they are bombarded with questions and can't keep up. Plus, they get asked really obnoxious questions.
I can honestly say that the few questions I've asked JohnnyBax has made me a much better player... If you pick someone's brain a little it can help a player a great deal. These players were handed down information from some of the greats, and if you're sincere, they usually have no problem handing down information to you.
and no, I don't collect autographs. I did buy gank's dreads on e-bay for $500 dollars, though. -
OMG Wein is alive
-
I'm not hating on any one for the occasional question. But have you seen these ridiculous chat boxes in the WCOOP?
-
Yeah, but it's Raymer & Moneymaker's JOB to talk to people while playing on pokerstars. All their buyin's for the WCOOP are paid by PS so that the average PS.net donk can get Chris or Greg to type "TY Donk2934832". So I don't feel too bad for them, but they're probably cursing every person that talks to them.
-
They are not playing for free. One of the few questions Raymer answered wad that one. He saud he paid his own entry.
-
I agree with you spks99...its one thing to ask a poker-related question, but you cant even read the chat window at raymers table because it scrolls too fast from people asking "whats your favorite color", "do you prefer chocolate or vanilla". However, you are wrong about Raymers answer to the "do you pay your own buyin" question. He said PS buys him into all the events, but he covers his own rebuys.
-
Well, seeing as this is a rebuy event, maybe that is what he meant. I stand corrected. But, I do not agree that it makes it his job to chat during a WCOOP event. Maybe at some small buy-in or etc. But too much $$ is on the line in this. That is a big payday, even for the pros.
-
Because TV commercials say that they do
-
TV says come play with me. Not come stalk me. And those commercials are for .net the free play site
-
-
Yeah, well how many dumb people log into online poker sites? And how many dumb people watch TV? I imagine there is some crossover.
-
I counted approximately 500 idiots trying to chat Raymer up while he is trying to win over 200k. In my opinion any one that does this or thinks it is ok to do is a complete moron. It's not really any different than going to a golf tournament and trying to have a conversation with Tiger while he is on the course. I mean he does commercials for the PGA, so he is obligated to talk to you while he is working right??? I use a VISA so Donald Trump should talk to me. And last but not least, I own at least 10 pair of Nikes AND drink Gatorade so Jordan is on my chat list too.
-
When birding El Cap the other day, someone actually said "Marcelle, can you say my name
please"
I usually dont mind the chatter, its entertaing when ur not playing and dont need to focus. but i found this one incident particulary disturbing, cause he was serious. -
The chat is definitely abnoxious but have very much enjoyed following his play this evening. Even though he is strongly encouraged to chat with players by Poker stars, he is polite in doing so and enjoyed the interaction he had with Exclusive, Lee Jones, and David Williams.
While I don't really have an urge to chat with Raymer, I was trying to root on fellow P5er Marvin Garden and I keep getting the message "Observer chat privalages are available only to those who have a buy-in for this tournament in their account. What's the deal with that, are all these people trying to talk to Raymer registered in upcoming WCOOP events. I can see that most of these guys did not play in this event so wondering why I am being shut out.
GO MARVIN GARDEN GO!!!!!!! -
Donk play of the tournament goes to...PEGE! He just busted Raymer after Raymer made a (near) pot committed reraise preflop, guy moves all in over the top, and Raymer calls. Pege has K 2 of diamonds against Raymer's pocket 9's. Turn K. GG
-
Thats not true. I was a railbird for a few hands tonight and he said PS bought him into every WCOOP event, but the rebuys were on him...
-
I played with Raymer in one of the 6 handed NL tourneys at the WSOP and among other things, we discussed his pokerstars situation. He told me that he is granted a pool of $ from which he could use to buy into any tournament on pokerstars. but he also added that he has used it up already, so he probably did buy himself in to all the events.
