Am i the most unluckiest guy when selecting girls? Or does every girl have some deep hatred when it comes to poker.

Im dating this girl, the minute she comes over and sees my full tilt cashier up or pokerstars, shes like "" Really? Are u srsly playing poker"

The last girl i dated we broke up because i was at the final table on a 10 Dollar tounrey on stars and she wanted to "Get food"...
So i tell her like 30 mins, shes like " YOU NEED TO MAKE A CHOICE RIGHT NOW, POKER OR ME, IM GOING TO LEAVE" So she came and shut my laptop off..Lol, i was so mad.

I hope im the only one with this problem

I remember back when I was 19 playing poker and I had a girlfriend who used to say to me "you would rather play poker than have sex with me"..EVERY time I was at a final table or near one. She never wanted to have sex when I was playing a 2$ 5k guarantee that just started though....

Maybe its because when you are at a final table that means you have been playing for a significant amount of time, aka not with your g.f....I guess you really cant blame them.

Trust me, this has happened to me so many times, where i get so deep in a tounrey, and they have a 6th sense and know we are deep in the tounreys. so they are like "ME OR POKER ARRGGHHH" srsly i hate it lol

Gotta start winning now or better yet, get a schedule where you can make time for yourself and play poker then.

You are not unlucky, this is pretty much every women ever. My wife used to pull stuff like that. Now I only play when she is not around or asleep. I think women are just hard wired to be insanely jealous anytime they are in your physical presense and you are devoting your attention to something other than them. It would be the same thing if you were playing video games or watching TV. Poker is particularly bad becuase you can't quit at any time so you are going to have to igore her for four or five hours at a time. I think like 1% of all women could put up with that long term. And I'm not sure I would want to marry that 1% becuase they are probably 1% level strange in other areas too.

My advice is to give up on volume and only play when she is not around. Leave the house if you have to. You will never ever be able to grind when your significant other is around, at least I never have been able to.

That's because you spend more time playing poker than you do with her.. But if you're winning and keeping her happy every now and then she should understand. But if you're loosing all the time and playing she probably sees u as a gambling addict.. It took me a while to get my girl to understand how the game goes.. how many hours and time i must commit to poker.. it's much easier when you show them a tourney you just won that is probably equal to or more than what she makes in 2 weeks or a month...

Because online poker is not sexy. Girls want security and attention, and online poker players can't give them that.

It's annoying for them to hear us talk about it and it makes us moody.

You basically have to date below you, not above.

The good ones want men with real jobs, not hobbies that pay.

girls i just meet or am just hookin up with usually think its cool and tell me they'd rather have a guy that plays cards for hours than their exes who played call of duty for hours. but ex long term girlfriends got really annoyed at it and pretty much the same problems you described.

The moral: new girls will like anything you do because they want you to like them. but once they become old girls they hate everything you do with your free time that doesn't involve them.

it was really offensive and stupid of that girl to shut down your laptop and if i was u i d never want to see her again
anyone who has strong feelings 4 u will notice u have strong 'feelings' 4 poker and respect it
if u do make money on a regular basis no one would bitch about it

Maybe I've only dated, married high maintence women, but I've never been able to buy one off for $2200. As in "here is something worth $2200 you should now be happy that I will not spend any time with you next month, because I will be earning another $2200, but don't worry, I will give it to you."

Maybe if we were talking bigger numbers, like 20K plus a month and you found a chick that didn't really like you for anything but your 20K a month, it could work, but I'm not sure that is a situation you really want either.

I got a great advice from a colleague when my ex-gf complained about me working late every night. His advice was every night you work late for 1-2 weeks straight, buy her something small/thoughtful. For example, chocolate, flowers, earrings, take her to dinner, etc.

Then start coming home early (aka regular hours), but don't buy her anything. When she asks where her presents are, tell her you only make enough to buy those when you work late. Problem solved. It actually worked.

Do the same with poker. Use cash-out guidelines (e.g., Jennifear's cash-out rules) and spend that money on her. Then after not playing for a few days/weeks, tell her she only gets those things if she lets you play poker. I had an arrangement with my ex in college where I put aside 10% of winnings for her -- it worked pretty well except when I went through downswings. Then she got nothing, I was stilling playing and I was pissed from losing...so just don't lose.

-Set expectations right and all your problems will be over.

Do you feel like poker is bad for you or are you guilty because of this passion? Do you keep picking girls that will make you think about such issues in a light you are unwilling to acknowledge or ones you know will speak some truth?

In the end...be true to yourself and honest about your motives for playing the game...if they get in the way of all your relationships then it is my belief that poker is the issue and probably less so the women.
