I've never seen a tourney that didn't beat the guarantee by less than 50% (75% if T Soprano is playing). The only one in memory that didn't was one of the WCOOPs. Look at tonights:
$10R - $25K - hit $34K
$5R - $15K - hit $29.6K
$3R - $10K - hit $22K
Maybe when the bird flu pandemic hits, there might be an overlay. -
When someone sees 10k guaranteed it would be better to sign up. Its just an extra incentive.
-
If nothing else, it tells you the 'size' of a particular tourney.
-
think of it business-wise.
one word: Marketing
smart marketing at that. -
But if it's always an insane amount over the guarantee. It's like guaranteeing me my dozen eggs will have at least 6 yolks.
