Last few days I have been playing some live poker and it has amazed me the way people talk to each other at the tables with insulting language swearing and even threats of violence. Also noticed that players team up in a bully type way against others.
Why do you think people act like this as soon as they sit at a poker table?
Does anyone have the similar views about live poker and experiences? -
Alcohol perhaps?

Played 1000s of hours live. People tend to be nice , but you do get the doosh that causes problems once in a while. One night I was playing Caesars and there was a dude at the table beside me literally screaming at this other guy. Went on for like an entire orbit before he was asked to leave.

Same with online. When you two out someone , some say nh gg , and with some you get
(observer) die in a grease fire you idiot **** I hope your mother gets stabbed. -
I think most people are quite nice in live games. The occasional player who drinks to much and gets rude props up. The only player I can't handle is the one who has to much garlic in his diet lol if you know what I mean.

I've never once had anyone be rude to me at a live table but sometimes it's just a bunch of old guys who know each other that just try to be funny or get the rest of the table uneasy. I wouldn't pay it much notice next time after you buy some Bose Quiet Comforts with all the money that they hand over to you. lol

lol... some people just dont know how to take a beat like online players.
-
i usually never talk and are nice to other people even if they suck out, but what i cant stand is when other players think theyre 10x better than you and then talk shit when they hit a 2-3 outter, like "O YEA, YOU SUCK, why do you even play??" things like that

Poker players aren't very nice by nature...so many of you kids just don;t get this fact.

Sick brag about hitting a 2 outer

So when was it that i played you? lol.......sounds like something i would say =P -
There's the answer.

it's harder to lose when you're at a table with 8 other people looking at you than when you're in front of a computer by yourself. people can't handle feeling embarrassed, and as a defense mechanism become combative and either start blaming the other players, the cards, or the dealer. and alcohol doesn't help.

A lot of these guys are wrapped up in being a good poker player as part of their identity (because their lives outside of poker are worthless), and when that is undermined, they feel like a core part of themselves is being threatened, so they lash out.

^^^ Good read on the situation imo.

what do u have against muppets?
-
not much except why are there so freakn many of you?

? Live players are a lot more polite then young online punks. More haters online then live, when I play live people are nice and respectful to me. When I play online people are talking much more trash and insulting me. Gl see ya at the tables
