i was bored watching the durr challenge then i scrolled down to see mekhi phiefer 8 tabling 2-4 cash with not a single full buy in on any of the tables while raise folding almost every pot.
-
Maybe he doesn't have any new movie gigs? Also why is Bruce Buffer a red pro?
-
i didn't know he was a red pro either now someone has to make a thread about that too. Seriously tho i think its random that actors and such can just get sponsored when they probably are lifetime losers in the game.
-
he's a "friend of fulltilt" red pro not a pro
-
its all about promotion. if people who dont play poker see Bruce Buffer etc on something saying he plays at Full Tilt then they'll think "oh he plays poker? i might give it a try, seen as he plays there i'll play there too" and it equals more $ for Full Tilt. FT dont care if these sponsored people are winners or losers
-
this guy would get beat up so bad at 2/4 NL LMAO

Really don't see how u can't understand why FTP would do this. He and baffer can do slot more promotionaly for them than like 90% of the real pros and all they have to do is give them a few thousand in chips a year. -
yeah i originally thought that it probably was for promotion reasons and to attract more players. It just caught me off guard that mekhi is 8 tabling and losing badly it just didn't make sense to me right away.

he seems sound enough from that well thing he did
-
Yeah i'm impressed he took time to do that i want to get it in of those private games he speaks of with celebs throwing around money at 5-10 to 25-50nl thats sick. I guess if it will bring more fish to the tables then sure keep signing up celebs as pros whether they're real red pros or just friends of full tilt
-
he's been in red on the site since i joined it in 2005.
-
bruce actually plays a lot of poker, I think he just took down some celeb tournament or somethin for $75k. He was just on PAD...and I think if im not mistaken, he's cashed in the ME on more than 1 occasion...he's been a pro on FTP forever now tho...Mehki Phifer tho..lol. He's almost as good as Michael Craig
-
The poker room at the Luxor is the Bruce buffer poker room.
-
i'd bet mekhi is a better player than Michael craig. i think theres nothing wrong with the red pros who are "friends of full tilt" i dont even think tilt would call Mekhi a pro...but im sure he's good for attracting more fish to the game, and he seems really pleasant and cool over in that 2+2 thread

Why people make comments like this never ceases to amaze me. -
In other words, use common sense.

Me and Mekhi chatted for quite ahile on the felt, im a fan of a few of his movies. I told him that. He's a legit guy but not a legit poker playin. im just bein a realist -
Lots of people respect him so Full Tilt are capitalising and using this as a marketing tool. Just like stars brought in Sports Stars, they are branching out to appeal to a broader range of people.
-
i think he's awesome. great actor.
-
there are alot of people like idk millions that do play for fun

Be a "realist" to your friends. Why you feel the need to clown his name in a public forum is unknown to me. There's a good chance he's getting a lot of other well known people into poker which would make him an amazing ambassador for the sport and all you can do is insult his game on a public forum.
In the great words of Chris Berman (or at least of the espn MNF crew)... "C'mon, MAN!" -

+1 except I would've been more rude.

Nice, I almost feel good about making this thread now i just realized i may have come off as a tool for making a thread about it but its no harm intended. I'm sure he really is a good guy and can be a great influence to attract more players so i hope he does just that
